Focal Stellia Review, Measurements, Interview - Head-Fi TV

I have an issue with the Stellia. I don’t like the bass as it sounds not coherent, it is not a full bass. Also I found the mids a bit recessed as I was turning up the volume to get the vocal clearer.

Can a high-end cable address these things? And how sensitive is the Stellia to high-end cables?

Don’t take this the wrong way but why buy them in the first place?

Because it is the lesser of evils. And I managed to get a good deal on it :p

If you want more bass, I wouldn't try to do it by spending hundreds or over $1K on cables. The Stellas already are considered a hair more bassy than neutral. You can use a software equalizer or just buy a backup set of bass heavy headphones for the same price or less than the cables people mentioned.

I’ve had my Stellia for a year and say they are less bassy than neutral by a lot.

I'd agree that hoping a cable turns headphones into something you dislike or are lukewarm about into something you love is setting yourself up for disappointment. Don't chase bad money with good money by sinking more money into it and hoping it's going to fix what you don't like. Cut your losses and return or sell it and find something you'll like better.

Face the truth: if you don’t like the sound of a headphone, no cable in the world will fix the problem. No palladium or whatever.

@ubs28: wearing glasses, by chance? If find it hard to get a proper seal with the then using the Stellia.

That‘s right. If I woudn‘t have loved the sound signature of the Stellia with stock I would never have bought any upgrade cable.

The tip with the glasses is very good. I also listened with glasses for a while and found out that the subbass frequencies where lost.

I do it with and without glasses and push close to my head and still no changes in bass. I consider Stellia bass light

Pad swapping would be the way to go for more bass.
I briefly tried mrspeakers alpha pads with the Stellia. Definitely added more bass. Didn't spend enough time with them to determine if other parts of spectrum was adversely impacted
I need to get some rings 3d printed before doing a proper assessment as only had them held in place by the head phones clamping.

i don't regard the stellia as bass lite, but 'different strokes for different folks' as they say
Agreed on that point. Bass light is FAR from the truth after sampling them for 3 hours. Not Beats heavy, but definitely has good flavor to them. Very unique but positive sound to these closed cans

Off topic, I was trying to compare stellia to utopia m sound, and decided its not worth it,both are in different leagues, with headphones singer is in your head ,with focal utopia m singer is traveling with you with his band, 20 years ago nobody would had thought car audio will reach these levels, but here it is..
