Focal SPIRIT PROFESSIONAL Impressions thread

After one month with both headphones, I definitely think that the good one is the Focal Spirit Classic.

It is sad that it hasn't had its  own appreciation thread because I think it is the closed headphone that I have listened to that is more similar to the HD650. And that is an endless question in head-fi.

The FSP is good but its low quality construction and bad materials make it unreliable in regards to its durability. Sonically, it is very neutral (and that is good) but it is also less musical, with less body. If you are looking for a truly neutral headphone for monitoring  then it is for you (if you don't mind its durability). But if you want a more enjoyable sound, without loosing that neutrality, then the FSC is a better option (with much better build quality and better looks).

So, are you saying that the FSC has different construction than the FSP? I have seen the FSC a couple of times in shows and to me they look exactly the same materials just different color.

I think they are both glass crushed infused plastic construction for the earcups, but the FSP has more exposed plastic on the headband.  It is differentiated from the FSC which has only metal and leather on the headband.  Everything else exposed on the FSC is either leather or metal.

This seems to have been done to accommodate their intended uses.

Tried the B&O H6 at the Apple store and wow, they are really good but have a really hefty price tag. Neutral, amazing vocals, natural sound. I did not expect that. I didn't like the Bower and Wilkins full size they had. Anyone know how the Focal Spirit Pros compare?

Seeing how these are so cheap in Spain, I've been lately thinking of buying them. How do they behave with classic and modern rock?

IMHO, very very well

I don't know anything about the new Focal Spirit One S, but that carrying case looks freaking awesome.

Hopefully they sell that for Professional/Classic owners as well.

Did somebody say "case"?

But it wouldn't fit FSP / FSC because they don't fold flat.

Wow that was a fast response. With all the complaining about the small earpads, looks like Focal fixed that now. I wonder if there will be a Spirit Pro S or a Spirit Classic S with bigger earpads?

I'm a little concerned about the description that it has bass coloration... I hope it's not too heavy handed, otherwise I think I'll pass. The only thing I can wish for is a more comfortable better built FSP. They can call it "S" or "2" or whatever they want to. I do like the look of theh new One S.

People who are interested in one are usually interested in the other too, so it makes sense to keep them together.
