Focal Elear - Impressions Thread

Literally all types of music.

Well recorded music like Kurt Elling's song Undone, the saxophone was very soft and music with aggressive highs like mettalica lost its energy.

Really there is nothing wrong. They sound to me like they measured for Jude. They are just not for me.

I thought I wanted a headphone with a lot of bass but now I realize I do not want a tipped up bass but flat deep bass with strong impact.

I don't have much headphone experience (took a 10 year beak from headphones) and just assumed this is what I needed to replicate a large full range speaker system.

No big deal. They are nice in a lot of ways and I can seem them selling like crazy but I would not call them accurate to the recording (which is what I want).

I just received my Elears last night, so no burn in yet.  But I did spend about 2 hours comparing them to my AKG K812s.  Both have incredible detail retrieval.  812s have a bigger sound stage. The Elears go a little deeper in the bass but have much better slam.  Also mid-range is much more "musical" on the Elear.  I have always felt the 812 was a little thin in the mids.  The treble on the 812 has always been problematic for me.  Too harsh.  The Elear was much easier to listen to.  Plenty of detail in the highs just not as strident as the 812s.

hasnt it been statet that the 10khz peak disappears after burn in ? and since its metal alloy, it takes time for metal to settle.

Which of the plussound cables are you referring to/recommending?  Thanks!
You know I'm not a dealer and so I'm not well versed on the part numbers. I believe it's called the Plus 4?? www.plussoundaudio.com

To be honest I never even noticed it.  I am aware that it is there, but it has been a total non issue for me so far.  Music tested:EDM, classic rock, top 40. Pink, Calvin Harris, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin. Never was an issue with as you can see, a wide variety of music.  At least for me.

How do you feel it performs with bass heavy EDM? Are they a "fun" listen? Is the punch and impact there?

How about top 40 Pop music?

Really liked them with top 40.  Very good punch and dynamics with EDM.  But I still prefer the Fostex thx00 with bass heavy EDM.  If I didn't have those to compare to, I wouldn't find the Elear lacking.
