Joining the Clear MG club again soon. I had them previously and I remember really loving their sound so much and finding them super enjoyable to listen to.

Have had them on my mind for awhile now but was hemming and hawing over it till I finally decided to grab them.

Interested to see how they fit in with my current line up which are my solidified favorites.

These were really the only headphones that I had on my mind, very satisfied with my collection as it is - but this kind of just nails it right in.
I know the feeling man, they really all have different reasons to enjoy them. I’m pretty content with cans and amps/dacs for now and just enjoying time with the music!

is this true??
Yes it’s true, I copy / pasted the exact email I got back from Focal. I understand there were a few different viewpoints on this, probably more with the OG variants. I wanted to share it for anyone on the fence about which MG they have!

At this stage I don't believe it actually is true...

I have mine amplified by a Topping DX3 Pro+.. am I missing out on much?
Focal Mg's don't need excessive current nor voltage to keep dynamic pace, it's one of their best qualities. Of course there is tone/voicing, layering, details, soundstaging and other abilities of the amps that can influence perception of the sound.

There's a big difference in overall definition and excitement "Hi-Fi-ness" between the iFi Hip DAC and the iFi Micro iDSD Signature. Which there should be for 5x the price. Though sometimes I prefer the comparatively "Lo-Fi" smoothness of the Hip DAC when I'm working and wanting something more tame. It's not night and day but it's enough to notice.

The Quicksilver tube amp really takes the soundstage to the next level and feels significantly different by comparison.

I've finally found a preset, that allows me to get very powerful bass, at very high volumes, with the MG.
(Based on Oratorys Harman target ssettings)

Adjust band:
#2 for bass
#3 for punch
#6 / 10 for treble
#11 for airness

I've had a wonderful time with the HE-1000 V2 and HE-1000 Stealth, over the past few months. However, the Clear MG never let go of me. Incidentally, this replaced my LCD-5 last year. Nothing sounds as authentic to me as the MG. Nothing can move me emotionally like Focal's dynamic drivers! Nothing! No high-end e-stat.
No high-end planar!
But I couldn't stand the mechanical clipping that started too early.
But as I said, I've ever managed to solve this problem.

Here in Germany, the MG was regularly available as a b-stock for €999.
But that's over now. It is now available as a return item for around €1250.
Still a bargain based on performance.

Something that doesn’t get said enough about the MG is how well it scales up when used with TOTL gear. I’ve recently upgraded to a Violectric V550 from a Neve amp and it hasn’t outclassed the MGs is the slightest.

Something that doesn't get said enough is just how dodgy the plastic headband is. My DT770 has a metal headband and is replaceable. Everyone goes on about the build quality of these but come on. Their customer service also sucks. They never engage with their retail customers and have no presence anywhere in any audio forums.

I love the sound but worry every time I have to stretch the headband to put them on. Feels like one day it will just let go and snap.

My biggest issue with the MG is the weight. Even with Dekoni nuggets, there's a lot of pressure on top after about an hour...the price paid for good sound.
