it's quite inexpensive. why not take 1 for the team?

I bought the grey perforated pu leather earpads and will provide pics and feedback when arrive (probably take a month). i also asked if the "sheepskin" leather are animal leather or protein leather and will provide answer when i receive... and probably buy anyway.

Detailed with great dynamic range. With the silent / battery DC background, there is neither grain nor tendency to ‘metallicity’ or stridency. Ambience recovery & soundstaging are excellent. Also, with the Focals somewhat higher input impedance (55 ohms vs Grado RS-1x’ 38 ohms), I can use more of the volume knob rotation.

That’s fantastic. No issue with bass performance or reduce spacial resolution and soundstage?

No ‘bass oddities’ (!) or spatial shrinkage. What the RA-1 has me thinking about (as a non-EE) is (are) the potential benefit(s) of using XX-volt battery power in an external p/s/u for headphone amplifiers……

I would be curious to hear Headamp’s battery powered portable amp if RA1 can drive Clear without issue. Hmmm perhaps I should pick one up.

They are sold out…. I would like to compare HeadAmp Pico to RA-1 also. [And to Gilmore Lite II + Golden Reference p/s/u.]

I asked the seller of the pads linked after your post and he said the sheepskin ones are real leather but the perforated ones are PU

I believe 38ohm should give 3-4db boost at 50hz according to the impedance of focal. i guess that might be pleasent tho?

Would that not depend on the impedance curve rather than on a nominal value? As dynamic driver h/p, I doubt that Clear and RS-1x have flat impedance curves.

Oh. So the amplifier impedance curve matters aswell?
