Focal Clear headphones

I have the Utopia and the Oppo PM-1 and PM-3. I thought that the PM-1 (actually a very good headphone) were GREAT, but then came the Utopia. They are in different league. Is VERY difficult coming back to the Oppo when you listen the Utopia. Is like you hear everything in his right place with all the clarity. Is very difficult to compare

I have PM-2 and PM-3 ... both are really great ... with Sony TA-ZH1ES Amp ... but Utopia are Superb ! Just wondering if Focal Clear can fill the gap between the Utopia and the Oppo's ... dangerous ground, not least with the wife !

Thought I’d chime in again, arming Neil Young’s “Down by the River,” damn, the instrument seperation , imaging and the bass, damn good song, truly epic! I continue to love the Mojo>Clear combination, another Classic Rock tune that’s absolutely stunning is Yes’s “Roundabout,” it was played to death back in the day, but still sounds as fresh as it did on the 8 Track Player in my Camaro (yes, I’m old, very old).

Old isn’t so bad! 8 track isn’t that far back. Aftermarket car audio was once an inverted spring pressure 45rpm players. Imagine that over a speed bump hahaha :)

I've heard the HD800. Definitely the best option for classical, but overkill for metal and underwhelming for any bass-focused music. The Focal Clear sounds like the better all rounder.

I'm hoping the Clear does very well for fast and layered(?) metal, something like Ne Obliviscaris.
The Clear will do well with stuff like that for sure. One of the better, if not one of the best in that regards.
@TSAVAlan and @TSAVJason thanks for the review sample. It is a good product no doubt. Buyers should have no remorse.

I think it'll all but kill the Clear. Really interesting timing with them releasing two headphones that are basically the same within a couple months of each other. A bit of iphone 8 vs X going on here, I think...

I doubt that it would kill the Clear unless you want less bass than the Clear delivers

I guess time will tell, but I tend to agree. As someone who has added the Clear to my cart and nearly checked out on multiple occasions in the last few weeks, this absolutely gives me pause. And looking at the FR comparison graphs, it really mostly just seems like Elex has a steeper sub-bass drop off compared to Clear, but if that is something that could potentially be adjusted with EQ (which I have no issues using) then that would all but seal the deal for me. The fact that it adds the extra balanced cable is a huge bonus. Coincidentally enough, I specifically didn't want the Clear's case and short cable as I would never use it portably so I was going to sell those items off to make the premium price over Elear more in line with my perceived value. I can see a lot of potential Clear buyers at the very least holding off on buying the Clear now that this is announced and waiting for impressions/reviews. At least that is what I am doing.

Exact same thoughts here. Almost bought clear last night. Now have to wait and see...

Am I glad I bought the Clear, yes. Do I think the Elex are a great value, hell yes! Massdrop is doing some good things and its showing, sadly I do think this will ebb the sales of the Clear but maybe its a good thing.

Wow, that came out of nowhere. That price is really making me consider the Elex now, though knowing Massdrop, it probably won't ship until 6 months from now...

I didn't see much explanation of fixing the upper mid dip though. Mostly less bass and more treble, which seems to make it a more dynamic Clear since the frequency response is similar?

You get less bass making it seem like you get more mids when using the Clear pads
