Focal Clear headphones

Hi everyone, I have a barbaric question. Please don't hate me for it.

Clear is drawing my attention not only for the obvious reasons but also the impedance. It seems like it might go together with my quad dac LG v20 relatively well. Just wondering if any of you have listened to it with a v20 or v30? Would be great if I can walk around the house without having to stack. I don't want to stack. I'll likely get a micro idsd black soon though, so impressions there together with clear would also be really welcome.

Appreciate all help! Thank you!

I actually auditioned the Clear with the V30 as well as the in-store equipment. It sounded decent out of the V30. There was a difference when I used the hi-fi system provided by the store, but there wasn't the large gap I've had with some other headphones. The V20 and V30 have always impressed me with their ability to drive in-ear monitors and headphones.

I have the V30 with Focal Clears and they sound great together. Better than any of my other cans with the V30. The fun part is that they will continue to scale with better amplification.

Thanks guys! Appreciate it. You think there'll be a massive difference when hooked up to the Micro idsd black label? It's good a solid reputation.
That's the set up I'm running. It sounds fantastic with the settings right out of the box, using my laptop or QP1R as the source. It actually shocks me how much volume I can get out of the BL without any distortion.

Your attempts are futile. And if there are future attempts of debating which Head-Fi equipment is superior...I will employ my Golden Headphone Cable of Truth...lol

The clear is easy to drive. I am playing it out of my iphone 6 right now and have the volume at about 3/4th. this is pretty loud for me (but I am listening to "A moment Apart" by ODESZA so you will have that!) I think you will be more then find driving it out of your phone and walking around the house. I think it sounds excellent now.

I think the Micro idsd with the Clear is a great combo. You will cover a LOT of ground with that.

I have used the Focal Clear from my iPhone X and it was fine. It really doesn’t need an amplifier at all.

In fact, I haven’t heard a single headphone yet that really needs an amplifier.

Few headphones need an amplifier. Most benefit from one, many greatly. Judging by the amps you use, I guess you know that already.

You see much improvement with the Mojo?

As I eye my upgrade path, the Mojo is definitely in my future for IEMs, and if it can pull double duty with my full size then that's a bonus!

Not really. I’d say headphone amplifiers are a waste of money as headphones doesn’t really need much power. They are just simply colour boxes in the end.

Depends. I honestly don’t hear much difference between the regular Mojo and my 12.9 inch iPad Pro to be honest. But with Poly it does starts to sound a bit better (I am also not sure why the Poly improves the Mojo).

That’s an interesting perspective considering the mojo is over twice the output not to mention a significantly better DAC than ANY phone.
