At first, I would like to salute the whole group of users here as I am new one. :)

I have one question regarding difference between uDAC and uDAC2. I had the first generation of uDAC and I bought uDAC2 before a week, I noticed uDAC2 is warmer when it is working than uDAC. It is not something drastic but it is noticable. Do you have the same experiance and is this normal thing for uDAC2?

Headphones used : Grado SR125i and AKG K312P.

That's normal — I guess it's partly due to the higher processing load to decode the 24/96 signal ... (just a wild assumption) — Don't worry about it ...

Count me in on the u-Dac2. First headphone amp/source for my E500/TF10/Turbines/D2000.

Should be fun. Shipment to arrive Friday or maybe Monday..

Hi,

Can you confirm that the uDAC-2 work fine in 24/96 with a MAC. For that we have to go to the audio midi setup and select the USB output and put it in 24bits and 96khz then open Itunes and play HD track without any conversion in 24/96. That's my understanding of the best way to play HD track. I read somewhere that we can't select 24/96 in the audio midi setup.

It works on a Mac computer, and you have the right proceedure.

Just received mine yesterday. Got some time to listen to it through TF10. Seems to make things sound more distance. Need more time to listen to the difference there. My D2000s sound incredible with it though. Nice to finally have an amp for the Denons. Have yet to try them with the Shure SE530s. I hope they improve the sound of the Shures. Those were already my favourite IEMs for 4-5 years now (not that I have tried every other IEM though).

Is anyone using the uDAC-2 with Sennheiser IE8s?  Any thoughts on synergy?

I wish I knew, but I got rid of my IE8 a year ago, so I could afford to replace the Westone 3 that I lost.

I'm using a Mac and can confirm this as well.  I suggest installing Rogue Amoeba's SoundSource to make all your output tweaking much simpler and easier: http://www.rogueamoeba.com/freebies/

So, I'm about to jump into the next level of audio with a DAC. At the moment I'm running an iMac -> Swan D1080MkII08 and i'm probably going to be adding some Sennheiser HD595 headphones to the mix.

So my question is, with most of my audio being V0 or 320kbps, is this going to be plug & play for me? Will I benefit setting up 24/96 if I have no plans for audio of that quality at the moment. Or should I just leave it at default settings? And is the uDAC-2 a good mix with my current setup if my budget is $130ish?

Thanks in advanced!

It should be plug and play for you, and it still sounds good with 256-320Kbps compressed music.  I use mine to control my Audioengine A2 speakers, or listen to my custom IEM on my Macbook.  Only half my music is lossless, and only a small portion of that is 24/96 music.

As for 24/96, there is no reason to set it for higher with 16/44 music, except that with the iMac set to use it in 24/96 mode I think that you have an extra 8 bits for using software volume control if you choose to.
