who uses a pair of xe6+baroque, would you take a very close-up picture of how long you pull the eartip on the seed tube? I need a picture of the end so that I can see the distance between the end of the seed tube and the end of the eartips. thank you

I was thinking about converting the Rn6
Do you mean converting your owned Rn6? I reached out to them about switching to metal shell when I sent my Rn6 for refitting, I’m willing to pay the extra cost but they said it has to be new order… (same for the flex canels)

Sadly I was also told a few months ago they no longer do conversions. I love the sound of the universal Rn6 and Xe6 but I have to admit the sound I get is often inconsistent. The kinetic bass port really needs a secure fit every time which is not something you can get with universals.

Use Spinfits cp100 for the best secure fit, I don’t think the port needs to attached to your skin to get the bass response. Dunn S&S is a good one too.

At the risk of a leading question, how influential is ear canal shape? If it is inconsistent, Fir did not have to do a universal release?

the stickier is better because it doesn't move out of the ear canal right?
They are both good in terms of stickiness and almost identical is just the + is stickier.

When I say the sound of the universals is inconsistent I don't mean it's bad. Its still great but to my ears the music sounds different depending on the fit in that instance. This sentiment is echoed by many users who say sometimes with the universals they can really feel the kinetic bass and sometimes not at all and similarly people who have custom Xe6 and Rn6 says bass notes produced by the kinetic bass are much more obvious and delineation of bass and mids is much better. To my ears sometimes the same song can feel a lot more holographic or less and sometimes bass feels like it has more impact, texture and sometimes it feels more diffuse. These are all tell tell sings that I'm getting an inconsistent fit and sound. This isn't about using the right tips, I'm getting a great seal. I think it's more about how the kinetic bass port couples with your ear anatomy. In addition the placement of kinetic bass port relative to your ear will vary depending if you're wearing the iems further forward or back. I'll add that the name kinetic bass is misleading as the driver is actually full range and I think it does impact the mids.

I think the universal Rn6 and Xe6 suits smaller ears. Theres a fairly large size discrepancy between universal and custom. If you wear a deep fit and by doing are so covering the Atom venting port with your ear anatomy, this will certainly have an effect on the sound. You're not getting pressure relief and you're getting maximum isolation thereby raising the bass past what the gold module would offer.

My best advice would be to audition the universals and then go custom. Only then will you actually get Rn6 and Xe6 to it's full potential.

I did not read your post to mean "bad", I read it to mean 'consistency of the kinetic bass'. Your follow up post adds more confusion as you state you are achieving a 'great seal' but you and others hear differences

I do agree, the sound of universals is really really good but I think customs offer the best experience in terms of fit, sound, and consistency. Also, you don’t need to worry about ear tips. Also, I’d recommend Flex canal for maximum comfort.

Sorry to confuse but I think I clearly stated it's not just about the seal but how the kinetic bass port couples with the ear. I'm using the AZLA Xelastec which I won't argue has the best sound as they clearly exaggerates bass and highs but they do provide a very good seal and grip the ear canal.
