Hey everyone, desperately searching for a new DAP, have a few questions if anyone can help.

1. Do third party apps access the same DACs as the Fiio music app?

2. Does OTG always work? Saw a review that said it won’t play nice with a iDSD black label via USB, is this correct?

3. Has anyone tried 2 x 400gb Micro SD’s? Work ok? And do they work with 3rd party apps?

4. Does it output bit perfect?

Thanks.

The only question I can answer is that the X7ii works perfectly with my two Sandisk 400gb cards. The only issue I had was the card in slot two took about 15 seconds to show its contents in file browsing mode. The cure was to format the card in the X7ii and not my laptop. Probably best practice with all cards used in a DAP anyway.

Can third party apps access both the micro SD cards? Such as an alternative to fiios stock music app?

Sorry, I only use FiiO Music so I can't answer that one. Is there a reason why you want to use a third party app?

Just get the sense software is the weakest part of Fiio’s operation.

Saw a good review video that stated a third party app was much quicker to read an SD card. Though he didn’t elaborate if it could read both.

Was strongly considering the Onkyo DP-X1A but the opposite there is true. Good software but terrible hardware.

Dear friend,

The third party APPs need the access the same DAC chips as well.
The X7MKII can support OTG function. But for the USB disk need power apply as well, it may be not compatible.
When using the FiiO music APP, the output frequency would not be resampled.

Best regards

Does anybody hear a pop noise when turning the music on after turning on the player in music mode?
Dear friend,

Do you mean the slight pop in the first music file? It is because of the electronic switch in order to avoid impulsive sound。

Best regards

Hi

How do you find the SE846 with the X7ii and apart from power, what is the difference between the AM3A, AM3B and AM5?

Regards

Darren
@Darren Cotter the SE846's are one of my go to earphones with the X7 MKII. They sound good SE or balanced and sound the best with the AM3A and my newly acquired AM3B. The SE846's with the AM3A shows it musical side with deep bass, lush mids and the highs are just enough to me to round things off. The AM3A and the SE846's sound very musical and enjoyable to me. Even at low volume listening the pair is still detailed and nuanced.

Keep in mind that my time with the AM3B has been very brief but the SE846's with the AM3B everything moves forward a bit. The bass is still deep and extended, the mids aren't as creamy and the highs are better on AM3B with the SE846's. I'm using the balanced filter on my SE846's so the forward nature in the highs with the AM3B module works great with them.

I haven't had the need to use the AM05 with the SE846's but it works well with IE800's I had and some of the harder to drive headphones. I like using the AM05 with my Audeze LCD-XC's. It's a very musical pairing to my ears.

I own this DAP since few weeks. Will replace the Fiio X7 1st generation.
Great DAP but not such sounding différences in my opinion, maybe with a better headphones.
I think that Fiio X7-2 have a better spatialisation and works better on DSD files and on "complicated" music with a lot of sound or instrument.
it's also much faster and efficient.

I have also a big problem with the dac function on my computer. It doesn't work... But the first fiio X7 works great and on my girlfriend's computer, both work. So I don't what to do to make it function. Both computer are on Windows 10

Yes, exactly. There's a slight pop for the first song. Also, when I press pause with hardware button and leave it for a while. When replay i do hear that pop again for the first song

i think it is because the chip moved in pause. I have also the same kind of issue with USB Android Pro Player. When I replay after, I have a pop-up wich indicates me if I want to use this peripheric (the DAC) with UAPP. I check the case to have it in memory but It always put me the pop up when I put play the first time.

The DAC put in sleep is an energy saver I think

I don't mind the pop if it happens only once. However, I'm more concern whether if it will affect my headphone in the long run. I don't want to wake up one day and the voice coil burnt out because of this

Dear friend,

Can the storage mode work fine? And you are using the 4.11 DAC driver? Did you try another usb ports or cables as well?

Best regards
