I haven't started my IEM portion yet...
Today I reached my conclusion: the pairing of FiiO X7ii and Sennheiser IE800 is good to see in a picture and nothing also. The SE output is not good for the IE800's.
I will return the DAP, I'm sorry!
I am also bummed fiio decided to go with balanced module as standard. My iem is dita answer which is permanent se.
Having a balanced out on any dap gives me a stop. Its simply a sign that dap will worked best in balanced. Output i simply will never use.
For Amp modules fiio should adapt a different strategy. Make se best module as standard. Dont release any bad modules let alone package it as standard with dap, as has been case with both x7 and mk2. (For me its case with mk2 as well). Then for users who want balanced out put give them option as balanced only module etc.

Fiio, please fix gapless play back. Like others I can report it does not work and there is indeed a small gap!!

Yes, some customer told us that they need different module , and we did respect the requirement from our user, but the fact is, when we release the non-module version of X7, there are very very few demand for it.
and amp module is to decided to meet different requirement, so you can change to any module you need. of course, if we release non-module version for X7MK2, we will also need to consider the cost ( the bom cost will be save but it improve the cost to maintain so many SKU, products management .... )

You speech is true, but imho it would be a good compromise to add a sort of coupon dedicated to FiiO X7ii owners in order to buy an extra module because the AM3A is not the best universal choise, are you with me?
This coupon could be a good incentive to increase curiosity and research of the best audio signature.
Please take into account this proposal.
Thanks
FiiO did that on X7 1st. For people that bought the bundle of X7 with AM1 there was a promotion of 50% on any other AMP module. Initially it was a US only promotion but quickly spread to the rest of the world, with a few exceptions - I got AM3 this way
My 2 cents

Ps: my situation may be considered as example. I would like to buy a combo of X7ii and AM5 but I have to extra pay the bundle of X7ii and AM3A... A coupon would be the key.

Though I do not own the X7-II, I'd like to comment on the current situation I think that there is nothing wrong with an amp module offering both SE and balanced outs (I'm skeptical about all this balanced stuff, though). The matter is the newest AM3A amp module does not provide the performance of the AM3 (according to some Chinese sources). Is it necessary to limit customers with only SE or balanced out? All we need is a proper implementation for the both To hell with the output power (IEMs are not that power hungry), just develop a mature and "debugged" version of the AM3A and make it a stock amp for X7-II. By that time I may scrap some dough to finance the DAP purchase)))the situation is different between X7 and X7MK2, in fact, the cost of X7MK2 increase more than the retail price, but we will take it in mind and decide how to deal with some people who want different module in the coming soon, now we have not any stock for X7 so the most important thing is focus on how can we provide enough stock to our customer.

I read some posts by the Head-fier who was dissatisfied with the X7-II and Sennheiser IE800 pairing, which poor performance he ascribed to insufficient AM3A's output power. But these IEMs are very efficient and not power hungry at all (just check the measurements on the innerfidelity, for example) there is simply nothing to put effort to drive for any X7/X7-II amp, IMHO. To my mind, it was just a poor overall performance of the AM3A, at least with this IEM model.
My 2 cents

As per impressions on this thread, se output a bit fatiguing and bright. As is case with most balanced amps, se seems to be compromised.
If true i will have to buy different module if i purchase x7. I simply want best se module that fiio can make.

AM2 maybe the best module for SE. it is depended on the sales report but it may not works for everyone.
