Went and signed up for Tidal Hi-Fi. I'll listen to some albums fully on 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz bands and see how it goes.

Isn't it the same wheel as it was on X5-3? Should have the same play... #3 has some play as well, but it is much better this way, after using it for a long while, I got used to that!

Thanks for input George! Volume wheel seems to be fine, I was just curious to know. Btw, only took a couple of hours listening, not in the best conditions because of a headache but sounds great, considering your taste (AFAIK), you will like it

Hmm.. it seems like the Micro USB cable has some difficulty connecting with the silicone case on. The amount of space between the housing of the connector and the X7 MKII is a good bit thinner than the case.

How does the SE846 sound with the X7ii? I've used them with the Questyle QP1R, so no meaningful comparison can be gleaned from that. I also used the IE800 on the Questyle, but couldn't get a good fit with the tips that can with it and for some reason, Sennheiser decided to use non-standard fittings for the tips.
I like the SE846's with the X7 MKII a lot. It drives them rather easily out of the SE connection. Bass is taunt and controlled, the mids don't seem over done and even the highs have some presence. If I were going to use the IE 800's everyday I would probably switch to the AM5 amp module, which I bought as well, for a little more power. The IE 800's seem to need it to sound their best. The IE 800's sounds good but my preference at the moment is the SE846 to use with the X7 MKII. They gave me that wow moment when I plugged them in.

Tidal HiFi is what I'm using and I'm enjoying the sound over WiFi. No dropouts, skips or anything just great sound. For my first DAP the X7 MKII is awesome.

Thanks for the answer. I'm pretty sure I'll go for the SE846. What filters are you using?

I'm using the slow roll off linear phase filter with no EQ adjustments

I can't hear any hiss to be honest. The AM3A drives them with authority in SE mode too. Maybe this is one of the upgrades to AM3A module. Like what Oppo did to the HA-2SE when they made it quieter.
Can you try it and test in Balanced Mode?
