I am using 4 X7 I units at different working locations and on the way (and an X7 II at home). And I can tell you that it is worth having the X7 I s. Actually since I drive them with AM3 each, without direct comparision I could not tell a sound difference to X7 II. Bought them all in very good to mint conditions ... and pretty cheap. I am very happy with them and would not sell any of them. So I would recommend you to use this chance.
I installed FiiO X7 Purist ROM version 3.3.9 V2 (Fidelizer) but it just stayed on the Fidelizer start screen and appeared to have stopped. So I installed the FiiO 3.3.9 firmware and it booted fine.
The issue I have is that the Pure Music and Android Mode switching doesn't work. I'll click on the button from the drop down menu and it will ask me to confirm if I want to switch to the other mode but nothing actually happens. It always just stays in Android Mode.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Any ideas?
I think we are talking at cross purposes here. Imagine you switch the x7 on in android mode, use the pulldown menu to go to pure music, is says android mode instead of pure music. It's the same the other way around. It still changes modes, though.

If you are in android mode and want to switch to pure music, you pull down the menu and instead of saying pure music, it says android. The same is true the other way round. It still changes correctly. It's just mislabeled.

Thanks for the reply. I thought it used to indicate the mode you were transferring to, so in Android mode, the pulldown menu would say Pure Music and visa Versa?
