Code:
[color=rgb(33, 33, 33)] 1 , a single antenna . 2, does not support 5G, 3, support 802.11B / G / N, 4 , LAN play we may restrict playback of high bit rate music and DSD [/color]

Network play may restrict high-bandwidth files.

5G.....what 5G is available?

Probably referring to the 5GHz wifi band since it only supports up to 802.11n.

the N spec can use 5 gig ..
But it says nothing about dual band, so maybe not in the X7.

"802.11g functions only on the 2.4 Ghz band, while 802.11n can be deployed on either the 2.4 Ghz or the 5 Ghz range..."

Wireless N can operate at 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz. A single antenna doesn't mean it will only support 2.4Ghz per se. 2.4Ghz is typical for backwards compatibility though.

It might sound better but from a product perspective that's not what the X7 is supposed to be bringing.
The X7 is more like a more functional DAP with network features (streaming, transfer), more ways to interact with what the device can offer (Android applications), and a more up-to-date user experience (Android and touch screen).

If you're only looking for better sound, then all of these features are completely useless for you as you don't mind about UI, UX, storage and network. I suggest you rather stay on the X5 or consider other brands such as hifiman and cowon that might suit you better. Perhaps ?

Yeah, I think it's more about usability as opposed to just a sound quality improvement, not to say it won't sound better but the main difference like Mak0 said is the networking features for example which will be great for those of us who used TIDAL but on our smartphones.

It may or may not sound 'better' but it should sound different compared to X5 as different DAC

We'll see about that in less than a week

Not sure I agree with the may not sound better. They are targeting the X7 as their flagship DAP with a desktop DAC and amp modules to cater to each individual's needs instead of a can do it all device, which speaks to the amount of attention they are putting in to this design. Just the fact that they are making a balanced amp module tells me that the sound quality isn't second fiddle with this DAP (not that balanced output is everything, but harder to implement different modules rather than taking the easy route).

My take is that FiiO is trying to hit it out of the park with the X7 and throwing everything at it that they can. My hope is that this doesn't dilute the overall focus on the sound quality, but given what they've stated for this dap so far SQ is at the top of their list. Tidal and Spotify streaming are icing on the cake for this one, not the intention IMO. With wifi and MQS streaming on the AK DAPs does anyone doubt their SQ because of it?

Just read the first few pages of this thread and you'll get a clear idea form James that this player is about an audiophile dream player, not just a convenience DAP.

internal memory costs much more and its a different story. they do not produce memory chips and getting it from a rip-off companies looks different than buying sdcard for us at amazon...

I agree with large sdcard, would be best.

we may produce 64g version in the future. also the size is limited cause when there are too many music files it will take a huge RAM to handle the database for all the music.

James, 64gb would be most welcome and probably your best seller.

I personally think my ideal DAP would have a SD card slot or two micro SD card slots. 5XX gb sounds good to me for a dap even though I can't fit the terabytes of lossless files I've got in my WD external hard-drive. If a DAP were to have big internal storage, it should have USB 3.0 in my eyes like Lotoo's Paw Gold or 5000.
Still, I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the X7 once it comes out. The touchscreen, price, and the coaxial out are the most attractive for me.
We'll just have to wait and see...
