piotrekfronc, JamesFiiO already mentioned that X7 will have exchangeable amp modules.
He's showing us what it's NOT going to look like.![]()
What he's not showing us is how much better it's going to look and function.![]()
I get the feeling (correct me if I'm wrong, James) that Fiio is now moving towards a finished product (that won't be finished by canjam) and our input is no longer needed. Design, functions, battery, etc., have been decided on and now it's testing time.
BTW, if it looks better than the renderings, is more user-friendly than the renderings, and it sounds as good as I hope it will, I'm buying one.
Thanks for checking in on these threads, and for keeping us abreast of what you are doing.
Was there any mention of a bass boost function?
to the best of my knowledge Sony's ClearBass technology (which is fantastic and doesn't add any distortion even at higher volume levels) is the only bass boost built in to any current players on the market (if i am mistaken about this and there are other brands who offer bass boost please let me know), its a nice option to have , and naturally, can be set to off or 0 if you don't want to use it.
I suppose for DAPs without it, it's possible to add an amp/dac with a bass boost and eq included (i.e. the FiiO E17 Alpen) but for portability its preferable to have the option natively included in the DAP as it's lighter and less bulky.
without bass boost this dap would be obsolete
daps should at least have bass boost or an eq, if not included believe me fiio lots of people will haunt you for not having it, as audiophile is still by all means not a representative to what most people like to hear, people like to add bass boost and play with treble and almost everyone gets tired and bored of flat sounding neutral players, so don't fall for the trap that some audopphiles ask you to get them a neutral flat player as you will lose a big base of your customers if you do that. Fiio success is because it offers coloured sound and is dare enough when it adds bass boost it boosts not like bass boost in other player or amps.
Fiio stay on your roots and provide us with a musical rich sound signature and ignore the few that keep asking for neutral, flat sound signatures.
Peace off
At 699$ Fiio is slowly becoming expesive. Does all chinese brand trying this way? They bwgine with low price quality product and gain popularity and then slowly raising price to the level of western company. Considering it is developed and manufacture in China it is becoming expensive now. It is like the same move (strategi) as the mobile company. No doubt x7 is going to be good dap performance wise.
If the headfi community is providing helpful opinion for the making of the excellence dap X7, Fiio is saving alot of money in developing stage, shouldn't it bee a bit cheaper![]()
2, X7 will has different amp module so the output power is decided by the amp module. we will design a high output power module , output power may up to 500 or 700 mW at 32ohms.
I'm a pretty new user here but I have been lurking for a long while.
I resent the idea that FiiO shouldn't add Wifi because "then it wouldn't be a hifi player".
I currently use a DX90 and listen to lossless files, but sometimes I want to listen to music on spotify because I don't have the files.
Not everyone downloads every song, I use Spotify when I get a nostalgia trip and decide to listen to old music that I just want to listen once or twice and be done with.
Having it on one device would be great!
You can have your Hifi player, and more.
More options are always great.
If you won't use the function then great, it won't directly affe
ct your enjoyment of the product anyway.
As long as all the fancy features (like wifi, bluetooth and any others) does not hinder SQ I don't mind X7 having them.
Too expensive? The X7 is barely more than an iBasso DX90. It is one-third the cost of an A&K240 or a Chord Hugo or other high-end devices. Hardly too expensive. My X1 cost $100. My X5 cost about $350. What's wrong with adding a higher-end device to round out the brand? If you don't want a high-end player, buy an X1. Or an iPod Nano for $170.
