I'm trying to start with Bluetooth off, then go into FiiO Music and turn bluetooth ON from those buttons. In the process I managed to get Spotify (off-line) to play at the same time as FiiO Music. Surreal... now back to my experiment.

(edit) Those buttons just bring up the general settings where you would normally turn Bluetooth on in the first place.

How and where are you playing music to Bluetooth from the X7? Are you using FiiO Music or something else? Did you ever click the specialized bluetooth buttons in the FiiO Music app?

When is FiiO going to properly document the X7 firmware and produce a comprehensive user manual? Currently it feels like users are all being treated as beta trialists on a voyage of discovery.

95% it is FiiO Music some 5 % Spotify (will still need to cross check the issue there). Flac files mostly (checked at other players/environments, no problems with them). I guess specialised bluetooth buttons are the ones at the devices' settings - playing with "phone audio" and "media audio" does appear to not help either :frowning2:

Hello everyone. First post, but a lot of forum observation for few months already. Just to say, it's great to have you guys posting here - huge amount of useful information, thank you! More to it, having Fiio representatives active here is absolutely outstanding!

To the point... I'm playing X7+K5 combo from yesterday and run into 2 problems already you guys might be curious in. Ofc I'd be grateful if someone can help me solve them:)

1) Both on X7/K5 and X7 alone as a DAC on win8. I'm getting noticable delay in audio line vs video when playing clips. Youtube, Local NAS server music videos you name it... same everywhere. Wanted to check if it's the same using X3 1 gen but suprisingly on new dac drivers I've installed for X7, X3 gen one does not work anymore... (minor issue).

2) Buzzing noise when clicking through fiio music menus/ android panel icons on X7/K5 combo. Getting more noticable along with increasing gain. Checked on 3 different headphones and IEMs, all the same. Problem does not exist for X7 alone. Problem not connected with wifi! However when i start playing whatever music fil, stream or local - does not matter, buzzing stops. Then when i go back to navigation it's ok for a while but after several clicks it's there again. When not clicking it's still there but really silent, tapping app icon or whatever menu makes it peak.

Well, for the second issue I've already contacted our local retailer, and new unit will be provided for me to test asap... I'll let you guys know whenever it comes.

It is exactly what we are to FIIO. X7 is a prototype for their next real product.

Still remember that I have read about the similar 'prototype' complaints since FiiO first DAP (*X3) release way back in 2013. Then those went away after FiiO worked on the firmware only to see that same complaint coming back on a new model's release, then the next one, and the next one, etc. Funny but also getting old, I'll say.  I wonder how many DAP FiiO must release before there is such a 'real' product exists? Probably never, I guess

, given FiiO has the tendency to keep working on the firmware until the model is discontinued. On the other hand, I don't recall that last time I saw anything that can be referred as 'comprehensive' as far as smartphone's user manual is concerned. In fact, I am not sure they qualify as user manual at all

. They are certainly becoming few and far between.

It is ones choice to be tricked by a non professional company or not. For me, it is the first and the last DAP I buy from FIIO. When i buy something I like to think I'm a customer, not a beta tester.

You shouldn't buy product's blind then. If you did the research before buying you would avoid this disappointment. In other words, you feel like you got tricked, some of us made a conscious decision and being passive aggressive towards the company and other users will get you nowhere. X7 it's not finished when it comes to firmware, if that's too much for you to deal with just return it.

It's ultimately your choice. But I'm yet to find another DAP manufacturer that puts out the feature set and quality - at the price point they do - while at the same time actively involving their community in the design choices they make. I have no regrets with any of my Fiio purchases.

So it's all a matter of perspective. If you want hassle free - go Apple (cost effective, but be prepared to give up some SQ), or else maybe Astel & Kern at the other end (but you'll need a thick wallet). I'll stick with Fiio - value for money + they listen and involve us.

all electronic companys upgrade firmware as time goes on to iron out wrinkles....microsoft, sony next gen consoles , apple iphones , all android phones etc etc the list is endless !.....totally the normal nowadays.

Yeah sure. How would i suppose to know they don't know how to shield correctly their stuff aggainst EM noises? Explain me how to i should know they even didn't know how to handle bluetooth driver? These things are basics but obviously it is not for FIIO.

Myself, I have no issue with the fact that firmware is practically set to be developed till the end of the product's [commercial] life cycle. Yes, kind of a trip towards unknow, but knowing the potential it has, it is rather fun. I am more concerned with hardware issues that ultimately affect user's experience and could hardy be changed by the software. Bluetooth is one of them. In fact I have no wi-fi issue, but X7 mobility is everything with bluetooth for me, otherwise I would spend my PLNs for some stationary rig  . Anyways, hope dies last as they say

Btw. I absolutely love it as a DAC, but well, yes it is has some latency indeed (Mac OSX), but not problematic IMHO when watching movies or listening to music.

You have no idea how hardware design and manufacturing works don't you?
FiiO said - you have problem with EMI (i assume that is what you have in mind when typing 'CEM') you can return it no problem. Not so much an design issue as an QI issue as my unit has no EMI problems..
Bluetooth problems are purely software, as we established software for X7 is not finished and if you can't deal with it... return it.

Both of those problem were mentioned here by people that preordered from first batch before X7 was widely available. If you bought it before those posts were made here it was a risk you take as an early adopter and if you are not ok with it you should not buy hardware on day one.

You know what was in the mind of FiiO when designing X7? Sound quality. And to my ears they got it spot on.

@Stachu P - BT problems are software based and will get fixed in the future
