Somebody installed Tidal on the Tour X7 I've been testing, so I unexpected got to test the wi-fi ....I touched the Tidal app icon, it came up and was working, I didn't have to configure anything. In about 6 hrs of listening to Tidal, never had a single crackle, drop-out, or anything else that sounded like communications problems or interference.

By happenstance, all of my wi-fi listening was done in my normal home office chair, which is maybe 3 ft from my router.

Krack2222 could be on to something ... another feature of my listening is that I don't have any decent IEMs, so 99% of it was was using full-size cans ... all of which have substantial cables. A lot of IEMs I have seen have tiny skinny cables that look EXACTLY like the cheap throw-in FM antennae that come with mass-market stereo receivers.

Hmm interesting find. My NAD Viso HP50 are easy to drive low impedance cans. 32 ohms I think. I've been using high gain so I'll do some testing on low gain to see if any wifi noise. Krack2222 might have cracked the mystery. Can someone who has low and high impedance gear help test this theory out. I unfortunately don't have hard to drive cans.

Hey bud, how'd you access the USB dac menu? I tried finding it after attaching it directly to my mac, and also docked to the K5. I tried looking for the USB DAC menu everywhere, but can't find it
:frowning2:

I am not talking about turning X7 into an USB DAC for PC, but using an USB DAC on X7 itself.

One thing I would have loved to see, but not going to happen because this is a finalized design - to have transport control on the front for a quick Play/Pause/Skip.  Otherwise, you need to fiddle with either hardware control buttons on X7 or the touch screen.  Bluetooth remote control will be perfect for this job!

the remote unit is almost ready

Thats 4 different earphones/headphones all tested with streaming and all with the same result - interference.

I'm starting to think that it is down to poorly implemented wifi, this morning the X7 is struggling to maintain the signal despite being in the same room as the router and the interference is far more severe. My smartphone meanwhile does not struggle to connect and has no interference with any of the iems/headphones. The weaker the signal the noiser the interference becomes, almost sounds like an old dial-up modem at times.

List of phones tested - AK Angie, Fischer Amps Fa 4e xb, Senn IE800 and Oppo PM-3.

I've tried changing wireless channels but this has made no difference either.

Because others are not getting this issue does this mean that it is pure pot luck as to whether or not you get a unit that works with WiFi? Fiio's response is still lacking here, I've turned my Wifi off so can no longer stream, this makes DLNA support useless when it becomes available. Shame really as it really does sound amazing for the price but basic advertised features not working for some users!!

So it looks like the wifi interference topic is a FAQ on their X7 Support Page. Link below:
http://www.fiio.me/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=40861&extra=

Also worth noting is their suggested solution besides turning off Wifi.

"It depends on the headphone you use. Some headphones with low sensitivity may not hear that interference. To make the better sound, it is suggested to turn off the wifi."

Can those without this issue reply and advise what headphones you're using? I want to test with the same headphones and if no noise then I'll accept the fact and keep the X7 since I can always upgrade my cans.

So Fiio are suggesting changing earphones because my earphones that show no interference with any other device may be the problem.  Rubbish!!  Almost laughable that my £600 IE800 or £800 Angie's are to blame.

sorry this is not what we try to say. we just tell the fact that different headphone has different hiss cause the sensitivity. also the wifi interference is not what we can solve right now depended on our techinical. we know some class-D amp can solve this problem but the SQ can't meet our requirement.

No what they are saying is: It is a hardware problem, we cannot fix it, don't use WiFi even though it is advertised as a system that can stream.

Sound like insufficient hardware testing and a rush product to me. Pretty it does sound quite good, but the hardware and software are somewhat lacking.

Completely agree with you pal that this answer lacks professionalism and responsibility. I'm also suspecting the wifi interference noise issue is due to poor implementation of the wifi hardware. It does seem like when the signal is weaker there is more noticeable wifi noises. That's why I mentioned in on of my previous posts that if a better and faster wifi chip was used this issue be less noticeable. In my master bedroom the signal is weaker as further away from router and this is where I hear more of the wifi inter nice noises, but my iPhone and MacBook and other wifi devices can connect without any issues.

In my situation I currently don't own high end IEM or cans like you, so I was planning to upgrade anyways. I just need to test if there is any noises if I use the same cans as others who reported no issues. This I'm hoping explains why some have no issues and some ppl like myself do.

Hi James. I'm not trying to be negative about the X7. I love it a lot actually. I just want to enjoy it fully so that includes being able to enjoyed streaming music without interference.

Since you mention the AMP might be to blame, would changing the amp module with one of the AM2 or AM3 modules being released soon solve this issue? Also can you provide a whitelist of IEM or headphones from your known testing that doesn't cause this issue? If we still have the issue with the whitelist headphones I hope you can understand it might be a different issue and allow warranty to exchange for another new unit. Thanks.

the amp module help nothing to solve the interference of wifi signal and there are not means to release a whitelist headphones about this issus. hope you guys can understand us it is beyond our ability and it also depended on the other fators like the wifi signal and something else.

I can confirm that the noise is coming  from the amp section. The noise is definitely gone when using an external amp (e.g. Fiio E12A). The soundstage and texture are also better with Fiio E12A compared with the included amp.

Interesting. If I understand you correctly using the LO with an external amp will eliminate the wifi interference noise issues? If this is true why would a different amp module not also solve this? Sorry for my technical ignorance.

Nope mate.
Noise is still there
I just tried that out with my iFi iDSD Micro as a external amp and X7 as a DAC via Lineout.
Tested headphones was FLC8s.

WiFi noise is not related with amplifier in X7.

Besides of WiFi noise, connect your X7 via LO to external good amp and you'll hear even more noise (something that I call SoC noise - because I heard that stuff many times from diffrent phones).
Connect you X7 and you'll hear noise even when you touch the screen and pulling down notification bar etc. :)

Last time I heard this when I owned LG P880 (4X HD) and I solved that problem when I changed my ROM to Cyanogen Mod.
