Going head to head against the Hifiman 901s, which I own, the X7 bests it as far as sleekness and an easy interface.  Despite having a full 200gb card within, I’m able to effortlessly scroll through my voluminous selections thanks to a nimble touchscreen.  The Hifiman's physical body is bulky by comparison and the UI is lumbering.   I love the sound of the X7, but to offer a fair comparison to the 901s… I’d need a comparable amp as the Hifiman is using the minibox.  Still, right out of the gate, the X7 is a significant player in the game.

Whats the point of stacking another amp when the HM901S does it all. I do not care much about the UI. I do not stare at the album art.. i only go for the SQ.. Thus although i know the X7 with the desktop sabre DAC is coming out, i do not believe the amp section is as powerful and better then 4x OPA627.. thus i got the HM901S. Unless the Fiio come out an amp module with OPA627 i might be seriously interested in the player. However i dun think so cause HM901s is using 7.4V battery.

Do you have X5ii or N6 for comparison?  I do recall you have PAW5k and AP100, so would you be able to offer your impression on that comparison?

A quote taken from their website:

For the first time in the history of mankind

a pocket size music-player is being offered

that delivers super-fidelity sound quality

Back to reality...

In spite of my misgiving about the ergonomics, I am looking forward to seeing some user-impressions of the X7 quite soon.

Fiio are beginning to hit their stride, in DAP design, so it could be good....
