They've given variations of this same answer on Facebook to everyone protesting the single memory designation.  (Off the record, it sounds super so far.)

James has stated earlier in this thread that there are plans to release a higher storage capacity model X7.

I hope we get more clarity on this before too long. I'm prepared to wait a few months in the hope that a 128 GB version is announced, but otherwise will be going elsewhere.

Others who are prepared to compromise on the storage capacity of the launch model may be a little upset if higher capacity versions appear soon afterwards.

Why should I pay three and a half times as much for something if it won't be able to adequately drive some of the same headphones that the cheaper Fiio X3ii can drive, and then as a result be forced to have to pay extra for an optional amp module component?  That really isn't reasonable, man.

I am really not being the least bit childish by saying so.  I love Fiio, they are by far one of my favorite if not my very favorite electronics and audio companies in the world.  But I'm not such a blind fanboy that I won't call them out on something silly and unreasonable when I see it.  I will re-iterate:  The X7 costs three and a half times as much as the X3ii, but in its standard/stock config won't be able to drive some of the same headphones that the X3ii can due to having only half the output power, thus forcing some people to ahve to go and buy an extra component.
Now here is someone being far more reasonable in response to my concerns    These are all excellent points.  I guess 100mW into 32 ohms isn't awful or anything.  I just don't see why they couldn't have made the default/stock module be at least as powerful as the ones in the X3ii and X5ii, both of which do just fine driving even the most sensitive of IEM's with a perfectly black hiss-free background.

Hey bud,

I understand where you're coming from, perhaps I could try to explain how I see things. The X7 was made for optimal performance, and I think it is probably their belief that the best way to go about doing this would be to separate the amp modules based on the supposed function. They probably feel that providing a high powered amp section would not do iems justice, and as such, each of these amp modules are, you could say, well optimised for the headphones that they have to drive, not sure if you get where I'm coming from.

On top of this, James has mentioned that they might sell the x7 with different amp modules so different people with different uses have the option of choosing which amp module they want, that might help you choose something which suits you better too. I have also asked James about the possibility of selling it without the amp module, and while he said that it was possible, he also told me not to expect a large price drop as the planned prices for the amp modules aren't very high. Hope this helps! :)

Yes. Please read the first post, item 6.

thank you for your response, but that's not what exactly what i asked, maybe it's me that does not explain clearly. i mean you have iem module that shipped with the demo tour and of course you will get a more powerful amp to drive full size headphones. they will release a balance amp to utilize the balance output jack for sure. i am worried that this balance amp will be too powerful for sensitive iems and want a less powerful version of it if it is.

I glossed over the IEM portion of your question. My bad. The balanced amp was mentioned to be quite powerful and I don't think anyone has heard one yet except FiiO so we'll just have to wait for impressions with IEMs as they roll in.

i will be buying it no matter how the balance amp will be. it will probably take the place of my zx2. i still think iems deserve their own balance module though. maybe you can switch the gain of it, who knows.

Looks fantastic James! Would you have any renders of the leather case by any chance?
