  Any gapless yet?

My poor 200gig card is just sitting there, waiting for a use...

I've never actually messed with gapless before. Does it really ruin your listening experience if you can't have it?

It's an absolute deal breaker for me. Any DAP I buy must do gapless playback perfectly or I will not buy it. This is the main reason I do not yet own an X7. This should give you a hint how important proper gapless playback is to me.

Depends on the kind of music you listen to. Lots of my music is made as an album with gaps not needed. On the x7 without gapless playback I get a big audible break where there shouldn't be one. So, yes, its a big deal. I bought the x7 in part because Fiio claimed gapless playback....

YES!!!

Try to listen a concert with a gap between tracks completely ruins the listening experience.

Other not concert recordings that is music that continues on the next track, inserting a gap between those tracks completely ruins the listening experience.

Most important and decent players has not only gapless, also more options like fade-in, fade-out between songs (like a mix) in order to never cut the listening.

Just a reminder - if something's bugging you about the current X7 firmware, please vote on it by posting on this thread:

Gapless playback is the most requested feature, but even this has only received 9 votes. If we don't vote, FiiO will think we don't care!

Ah, I see how that could be annoying.

FiiO confirmed that they're working on gapless and replaygain:

Dear users
We will try to add the gapless and replaygain functions as soon as possible. Sorry for bringing inconvenience to you.
Best regards

As I can understand that gapless can be important, I can't understand that it will ruin listening experience. OK, I will hear a gap between "One more time" and "Digital Love" but I won't say it's deal breaker. OK, it's not what it should be, but hey what can be done right now? FiiO said it will work on that feature as they promised.

I bought X7 for entire ecosystem FiiO is building around it. Right now my X7 is docked in K5 and "Discovery" by Daft Punk is playing. My girfrend is listening music via FiiO Olympus. My PS4 is connected to the K5 via FiiO Taishan. In the near future I will probably buy Q5 to make it permanently docked in K5. Also AMP sections that Q5 and X7 will exchange. You can buy things thinking how you can utilize their entire family potential, or you can buy things thinking about one concrete feature you can't live without. I'm not denying your point of view. But as I can see gapless playback and replaygain were not on FiiO most important tasks list. I know how it is, I'm a software engineer myself. You can't please everyone. At least not in short amount of time. Every fresh beta make FiiO X7 better DAP. Like I said I only installed beta 10 yesterday. It was so-so, but today's beta is league over last one (battery and temperature). I think that day when gapless will see daylight is maybe not close but closer than yesterday.

Sorry for a little too long post.

Peace :)

I have a lot of progressive rock, new age, and other music that doesn't have gaps.
Try listening to Tubular Bells 2 with a gap after each song. it ruins the ambiance.
same for many other albums by Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield, Kraftwerk, Kitaro, Jean-Michel Jarre, a lot of classical recordings, etcetera.

At first it seemed like FiiO did not see the importance of this (it was there on 1.8, broken on 2.0, completely missing on the 3.0 betas), but they did understand that it was important to a number of us.

I also understand why people want replaygain, as the loudness war is cause of very different volume levels of tracks.

And I'm glad FiiO explained what happened after fw2.0, so I understand why they chose to do what they did, and which issues they fixed.
