oh man now I have to wait until I get v4a to be able to use neutron again, this is a bad position
FiiO told me V4A won't be compatible with the new SRC-bypassing modified audio stack structure of X7 on FW3.x until further notice.
But Neutron by itself does have powerful tone shaping options at least.
Try adjusting the first low shelf filter in Neutron like so:
1. go to EQ screen and hold the EQ button to bring up advanced menu (hold for a second then release; it won't pop up until you release your finger)
2. tap the cog next to "Band #1 (Low-shelf)
3. tap the Frequency, and Q radio buttons and adjust their numbers using the slider to read roughly as: Frequency: 1000Hz, Q: 0.3
4. tap the tick button on this screen and again on the next screen to confirm changes.
5. Now the leftmost EQ slider becomes a simple tone control slider, push it up to warm up the sound to taste.
Also maybe don't give up on V4A just yet--have you tried installing the latest version?

1. Open currently installed V4A, choose "uninstall driver".
2. Uninstall V4A the app itself.
3. Reboot.
4. Install the new V4A and reboot.
5. Go into V4A Settings, tap "Enter developer mode": tap OK to dismiss the warning the pops up.
6. Tap the new "Disable SELinux" item that appears; tap OK to confirm.
7. Try playing some music.
