And...did you ever consider the fact that some guy could hack into this and upload a virus of any sort and screw us all over?

I'm not saying this in an offending manner in any way, so don't take it like that, but these are the types of things a hacker would look for in this day and age.

If thney hacked it - the original MD5 sum from the original torrent wouldn't match.  You'd know it had been tampered with ....

That's true.. And that's a fair point, except I only pointed that out because he said it would automatically download to our computers.

Most don't check MD5 sums or any after its finished downloading.

Of course, depending on how he did it. The torrent may just keep re-checking as the sums aren't correct from uploaded. N

You couldn't hack into an existing torrent as long as it's being seeded.  Because when you uploaded yours - the torrent software would automatically recognise that your seed didn't match the original.  That's why they have the checksums.

Anyway - this is being dragged OT.  I still say Dropbox is perfect in interim for FW updates.

Now back to the X5 .......

It would be nice if FiiO provided a specific webpage for firmware updates. As I seem to recall from the AK120 thread, people were frustratingly mad at AK since the firmware downloads were in some obscure place on some webpage. People had to distribute the firmware from their own sources since it was so hard to find.

  @Joe and James
I recommend you guys either upgrade your website's download support function and directly host the fw on fast servers. I know you guys already host it, but your servers are getting slower with more people trying to access it

If not, may I recommend a MEGA or MediaFire account? For Mediafire, the link won't expire as long as it keeps getting downloaded. That isn't a problem with a paid account

But anyway, getting more servers in different countries to be able to not only handle all the users, but to also provide fast page loading and direct downloads is a must.

I have a VERY hard time finding fw packs in sequence from the X3. I have to hunt for them on HF to even get them. Same with the X5. It seems the only way to find fw on the fiio site is by hunting through the NEWS category.

Just a tip.

Anyone else with an X3 agree?

got it, we will move our website to a new server in the coming soon. about the firmware upgrade, there are a big icon in the homepage, and also you can find it in the support and download too.

I don't suppose that means now, does it? The website says, via Google Translate, "Could not load file or assembly "Excel" or one of its dependencies. Insufficient disk space."

Hello,

I think people will agree that this has been one of the most inclusive tours ever to grace head-fi, judging by how the applicant list may have been one of the longest ever, yet much more than half of the applicants were selected. I'm pretty sure that in terms of accepted tour members this must be the biggest tour ever :D Still there will always be people left out :xf_eek:

Keep your eyes peeled for our next tour, I say. :D

Though I must say I feel like I've overstretched myself and unless this tour turns out to be an unequivocal runaway success, it's unlikely for the next tour to be anywhere as big :xf_eek:

I think you got no idea of what you've done and gotten into. You made head-fiers believe in Christmas lol. If I can be allowed to express our collective feeling, it would be one of being eternally grateful and appreciative of what you and James have done by organizing this exciting tour.

Be assured that as far as popularity goes, you haven't seen the end of it so be ready to keep working hard at organizing other ones, it will happen! :beerchug:
