Just an idea - you may not like it ......
 
But as a start up and shut down animation, to compliment your theme.
 
Close up of a turntable, with someone putting the stylus in place on the record.  Shutdown would be the reverse - lifting the stylus off.
 
Just seemed appropriate.
 
Not sure how difficult it would be to source/create though .......

 I would love an image of a very close-up drop of a needle by a hand (2 fingers holding the little handle on a needle as the open.
 
The close is a weird miserable guy not quite escaping reality and the record is almost over. I kinda love that The shut down is short so I cannot do much with that but the start up is longer I just need a HQ set matching my image which is about what you said. The devices screen quality is not awesome so the HD wide type images could look sharper but have black borders on top and bottom
It's like a 4:3 ratio instead of 16:9
 
I get what your saying though and agree with the startup point...I'm off to hunt or make that startup proper

hex extension knowing anyone?... there is always the method of hex editing, but i cannot read hex method, nor can i edit in that mode...

As i said, there is always the hexeditor, which can open any file thrown at it, but i doubt that it is feasible using it.. if anything it is much more complicated, and less intuitive than anything... but in all sense, you should be able to modify the file...

Only screen not matching was the System settings (Now X5 settings)  with the color tactile buttons. Looked great but simply didn't match a theme full of vinyl and the new one is my XBMC and MusicBee BG and it is nice with rotary knobs and a set of headphones. Better match.

Original toggle switches were cartoonish in a theme trying not to be such so found a set of aluminum old style ones and it looks better

 Favorites changed to "My Favorites"  and settings titles changed to  "Playback Settings" and "X5 Settings"

Now playing screen changed for the last time as the quality and balance of this new one more matches as it comes in from side and not drops down.
Quality of image much higher

This was also a quality and balance choice.  It just looks better now.
 
February 2nd 2015 and the "Hi'Fi" theme is done.
