Fiio X5 - Custom/Modded firmwares

That is understandable.
But, some of them has no picture.
So, that is why I ask you, guys.
Well...I will give it a try.

Go to the 1st page and look in the 2.5 section (latest fw)
I believe if you click the post link you can at least see a pic of any of the 2.5 themes

Updating the firmware with a new theme is very easy and really only takes a few seconds, as long as you have an empty micro-SD card that you can dedicate to the process. Just download several themes, copy one at a time on a mSD and update. Check it out. Repeat. It won't take long to find one you will like.

You don't even need an empty mSD card. Just drag them onto your regular mSD card as long as it's FAT32 and has space.

I'll be working on bringing out a version of Fragments with the new topbar and a few bug fixes, and something along the lines of a darker version of Harmony 3.

Completely random: I wonder how large the firmware storage chip in the X5 is. I don't want to brick my X5 by making a firmware so large that it can't be written to the device.

I was asking this myself.

I think that you should keep it under 40mb just to be safe?

I try to keep them under 40MB as well, but Harmony3 was 44.2MB after serious size reducing, and I was fairly paranoid when flashing it for the first time. Thankfully, my X5 is still alive.
My best guess is that the firmware chip is somewhere around 50MB or 64MB, but my guess could be totally wrong.

I also guessed that it should be a 2*n, based off how computer technology usually works.

I am wondering, why don't you use smaller font files?

Wasn't it 8gb

Didn't know this. I was only basing this on how FiiO recommends to perform a firmware update, which is what I have done every time without any issues. That is, copy the firmware onto an empty mSD card (formatted to FAT32) and insert in slot 1 and no mSD in slot 2. And as the mSD card that I usually have inserted into slot 1 contains most of my lossy music is nearly full (so far my lossless music I keep on a seperate mSD card inserted into slot 2). I haven't tried otherwise.
Thanks for the info :D

Mine are always heavy and Hi-Fidelity is 54.9MB.
Latest theme is 45.4

I honestly cannot see any speed difference in 54.9 or 45.4 or the theme that Relic made and yours.  The "Classic" by Relic loaded fast as hell but it's reaction speed is the same as yours and mine. Whatever is allocated it's functioning normally with no lag up to 54.9. I think the whole X5 is snappier in fw 2.5 v.s. 2.4
You can go to 55 without issue for sure. I have not gotten any feedback relating to speed. Zero.

Just drag and drop (not into a music file of course)
I made my last 2 themes and flashed the fw 150+ times and never took the card out. I eject the device and delete the fw file after it installs but I never remove the card

Good to know. Thanks. Can't watch the video (I'm only guessing that's what this is as it is just a blocked out... well... block). Still, good to know
