Fiio X5 - Custom/Modded firmwares

  Would the unpacking tool work on WINE, does anyone know? I would love to try my hand at modding but I only have a Linux computer.

No reason why not. It is only a script of a single command. If the script won't work try entering it directly.
It works in Parallels for Mac

X5 Classic preview........ Wanted to do something simple and familiar - inspired by the iPod classic.

Mostly using the FiiO icons for this one (some of the stock FiiO icons are identical to Apple icons).



Notice the progress bar in the Now Playing screen. I made the number images taller so they sit further down from the progress bar which allowed me to make the bar much thicker.

I was going to go for an iPod classic battery indicator but I really liked the way the H_U_D one works so I left it in this theme for now. It may change or I may do a different version.

So far my biggest hurdle is finding a thick font large enough to read. Every bold or bold condensed font I load turns out to be about 3/4 the height of the stock font, yet the stock font is too thin for the theme. The launcher is fine as I can treat that separately.

 

seems like a great ideea. I wanted to do something ipod inspired, but i never owned an ipod, and i don't really like marine blue the ipods use.
 
on the other hand, the UI iriver e100 series had was a real wonder for me. thoguh i would not entirely copy it, i think that i am going to do something similar in some time....

About your notes, are you saying that instead of deleting the file for a picture we should delete all contents of the file, keeping an empty image for not crashing the player?

Yep, some images are fine with being deleted, but I'd be careful with the box0/1.pngs in the selection menues, since they sometimes cause the player to hang when they're not there. If deleting the image hangs the player, just make it an empty png.

The border is part of the half-transparent bar behind the song title/tags. It uses the topbar as the top edge of the frame.
The generic album cover was created by putting random translucent gradients on top of a cyan background.
