Fiio X5 - Custom/Modded firmwares

I do not understand what happened here, i hope that i had not caused any problems. i am still polishing my uis, trying to make icons even simpler, without loosing any elegance. the reason for this, is because everything becomes even faster with simpler graphics, and this is a good effect.

EDIT: I will not have any more logo image, it is big enough to slow down the entire boot sequence. I preffer the boot to be as fast as possible.

EDIT2: i know that there are some stronger paid programs, like photoshop, but for my objectives, i am thankfull that i started with paint.net, because i can make the theme even faster, and this is a big deal for me, as i like my unit as snappy as possible.

The 32bit logo.bmp does not slow down the boot sequence. It is only shown until the X5 is ready to display the boot.anim
Without one you will have a black screen for exactly the same time.

[@]skerry2006aj[/@], if you want the ultimate in speed using the X5 get rid of all your album art. PM me if you want help with the logo.bmp and I'll get around to it tomorrow.

I feel that i can still optimize the speed when getting from one folder to another, or from launcher to other menus. i think that getting rid of all possible features that can slow it down, and doing it with some new ideeas with mine [like erasing a line between two solid surfaces, instead of adding a white line] can actually imrpoove speed even further.

About album art, i have one jpg cover 300*300 per folder, so there is very very very little lag.

I felt like adding a ~700kb file just for showing on start up could slow down start up, as i optimized the start up sequence, by deleteing some unnecessary data off the files. it is light-fast.

i actually am happy that i can use these concepts, because i always felt like i would like my x5 a little faster.

One image per album is the second best choice for speed.

The logo.bmp will not slow anything down as uzi2 pointed out. It still takes the same amount of time for that portion of the startup with or without the single image. It's nice to see something instead of a black screen.

A shade of original - the original tweaked with some minor things, to look better, and should move a LITTLE faster.

Sorry to repost links sometimes, i think that dropbox does not change link if i update the file itself.

EDIT: files for black and elegance ar took from original, modern simplicity, and vortex, while a shade of original contains only files from original modified by me.

Hi everyone, first post updated

I have added "English 80s Indie" by @theUKMrT

Also added the themes from @skerry2006aj (the 3 shade themes and "Skeptic").

Now, about credit to the original modders, I usually put mods of orignial themes together with proper indentation to make it clear but in this case, it's based on 2 different themes. I tried something in the new table format. I wanted it to be clear while not taking too much space. Tell ne what you think. Thank-you.

@Hawaiibadboy tell me when you will have new links for your themes.

Maybe a separate column "Based on..." would work better if width of the table is not an issue. As it is it appears to give more prominence to derivative themes rather than the originals.
Another way would be to retitle "Full original re-themes" and then have "Derivative re-themes" below.
Just throwing out some thoughts...

I would second this.

If today was a reflection of general opinion it would seem nobody cares much so put the originals in one and the variations below.
That should bother nobody in the least. I'm 60+ flashes into my latest theme and it's pretty much from launcher to eq my own and not like another.
I will give some folks mods a try after I'm done because taking my 1/2 complete theme off my device is a no no (for me). Once I come up for breath I'd like to see the mods by MrT,Skerry and the rest.

I think that it is fine. You will not have to modify the links ever, because of dropbox works in such a way, that if i modify the file in the link, the new files has the old link, as long as i do not change the folder hierachy.

Thanks a lot for all the hard work of creating a table with our themes.

I will constantly modify my themes to new versions, and will post new modifications.

The "skeptic" theme is practically where i began, and can be considered undone, as it will not be supported by me, anymore, i do not know when i will need the space in my dropbox, and the link might not work at a certain point.

A shade of elegance will be the first most supported, black second and original third, with original having the most subtle changes, but done in such a way that they should totally drive towards making original even better.

i had updated shade of original. link is the same, as the one on the first page. it is more onvenient for everybody if i do not change links.

Just saying you've updated it doesn't really tell us what you've done George.  If you could include a changelist, it would help.

I actually made every change i done to original, the birght red, into a less bright color of red.

I think that i will come back to editing a shade of original later, now it seems that i have some sort of block with it, i am not satisfied with results.

If anybody has a good ideea of how i can improove it, i would be really happy.

Right now i am still polishing a shade of elegance, i cannot tell how much i changed it, it is becoming closer and closer to ideal. Shortly, i was not happy with how playing screen looked like, so i totally re-designed it. now it is totally something else. i will post shortly the updated version, with some photos.
