Fiio X5 - Custom/Modded firmwares

EDIT
I got the goods gimmie an hour and you'll be rocking your own "re-tune"

Rory mod sent.:D

Freakin Amazing. 'Custom' customs have taken an already cool theme to a higher level with personalised pictures and video. HBB instructed me how to create the exact segment of video I wanted and I created the animated gif.

My Hi-Fidelity now starts with a B&W pic of Rory Gallagher blending in nicely with the opening video. Then at closure, Rory darts across and off stage.

Massive thanks to HBB for the idea and then producing this. Turned out even better than I had hoped.

I'm stoked your happy.

I wanted to differentiate myself in style and technique.

I was suggested to use a dual light instead of toggle switch but Relic did that and did it well. He took a picture of a marble for god sakes.

There are 22 'Custom'  "re-tunes". 500+ downloads from 29 countries and 58% from here while that % was mostly at the start.
I imagined folks giving 8 thumbs up to one guy and virtually ignoring me within the course of an hour was either me way missing what was appealing or me running into a ...I dunno?

I went about ways to try and see which one it was.

I'm much more at peace to realize it's a forum thing. No harm no foul. It's the net.

I enjoy doing the customs a lot. I built a frame that allows for that. It's my pleasure. You got a one of a kind and that link will stay as I have split my hosts across 3 accounts to try and prevent bandwidth maxing.

folks from at least 29 countries are comfortable with changing their fw files....that's cool as hell
biggrin.gif

I thought the shut down was abrupt maybe but 10 frames.....if they ever allow for more I'll give you the lost 2 frames

Keep doing what you're doing Chris.  While your firmware versions aren't exactly my cup of tea (I prefer very simple and visual menu based), I can see the time dedication and effort you put into the themes, and people do appreciate them.  I think what you've done is pretty stunning, and going the extra distance for the custom themes shows your deication to the community.

Bravo mate - bravo!

I like Chai latte...iced...myself.

My personal shutdown is a vinyl like you suggested 2 months ago. Nice bookend to the start-up logo.

*gif should only repeat 3-5 times

I love the HIFI/turntable themes but also the Rock Zep/Hendrix as well.

Suppose its too much to ask for a complete Hifi one with that TT shutdown. Then a separate whole Rock Group 'moment's one.

Ok, I didn't ask that, you've gone to great lengths already

Tomorrow...I'm going bungee jumping
biggrin.gif

After that I can do it

I already have a needle drop from the original Hi-Fi theme and a lift on mine now so the TT is cool though the turntables are not the same one and break the uniformity. I have looked through many a stylus test vids and the guys usually use the auto-lift on their precious turntables.  If you ever come across a vid with a hand lowering and lifting off the same LP it would be epic

I LOVE this one from my first theme.

Asking to have a already existing start-up/ shut down is easy as dragging and dropping for me.

That ain't a biggie.

Have you considered two themes though, Hifi AND Rock Gods?  These too much goodness to cram into one!
Its probably just me. But Turntables and Hi-Fi,  then the whole Rock scene are for me, my two favourite subjects. I'll settle for a combined one

.

Rory finish is great btw, its going to turn off so doesn't seem abrupt. Next time I'll fade the last three frames in Photoshop!!!  No, its cool as it is. Even my wife was so imprerssed when I showed her what a DAP could look like personalised.

Yup, I changed the Trek design. The other one was too cartoon-ish and I wasn't comfortable with using someone else's design.

So I'm doing the same old skeuomorphism I seem to always do..........

TRICORDER! I know, I'm completely geeking out!

The basic idea is that the symbols on the bar below the screen are a roadmap for where you are going to navigate to next while the screen is what shows you where you are in the menu. I made the metal sliders move with the wheel or button action and the lights beside the screen will be animated randomly. I like that those lights are there because I can now use my other 'Analogue' buttons for this theme and only need to adjust colors.

Check out the med lab EQ............

And the no album art screen..........

And the folder icons (may change)...........

This one is very fun to work on!! :D

Ok. Being a Trek fan, this is one skeumorphic theme I might just have to try. Thanks for the Nimoy tribute!

When will it be ready?

I'm thinking in a couple days. It all depends on what I can do with the shortcut icons and toggle switches. The star BG makes buttons look stupid just floating there in space so I'll need to come up with an 'engineering' BG for the settings menus.
