Has anyone used the Neutron player? Having some odd issues with the volume knob and Play/Pause button. The volume will only go down to far with the knob. That lower level seems to change depending on how high the volume was when you begin to lower the volume. The Play/Pause button appears to fast forward. Really weird. I love the interface in Neutron. The level of customization is wonderful and it plays DSD which Poweramp, n7player and PlayerPro cannot. If I get stop listening long enough, I'll post on the Neutron forum and see if they are aware of the issue.

Dear rmoody,

Why the physical buttons of X5III could not function perfectly on some third-party APPs?
A: The button of X5III(X7) is strictly based on Android definition. However, third-party APP would make its own definition while using system buttons. So the button definition of system itself and third-party APP might be conflicted. We couldn't change the button definition of third party APP. Therefore, the play/pause or previous/next track button might not able to work perfectly when using third-party APP (These APPs might work fine on cellphones cause most of the cellphones only have volume button for adjustment and no next/previous track button).

Best regards

Thanks, Relic

I tried to find it on fiio.net, however, there's currently no link to the 1.1.4 Firmware nor any informations on the changelogs of the different releases.

As I'm new to FIIO, I'm not aware of the different ways to access up to date informations.
It's a pitty, that they can't be found on the official X5-III support page ( http://www.fiio.net/en/supports/43 ) ...

They typically have the information link on the FiiO home page when it's announced, or in the news tab.

That is what I figured. Thanks for the information. I'll pester Neutron to see if they have a solution.

I have a suggestion on the Fiio app, add an option to sort albums by their year when viewing an artist's discography. I would have no use for a 3rd party app if the Fiio app had this ability.

I am on the review tour.  Was so impressed with the X5-3 that I bought one for myself as soon as I had to hand the unit on to the next reviewer.  I also bought the FiiO DK1 dock and RM1 Bluetooth Remote (see pic below).

In my review (still in process) I have spent a bit more time on connectivity of the X5-3.  (Also see pics below).  I intend to use the X5-3 as a portable source for just over 1/2 terabyte  of music files.  The X5-3  works well for line out, coax, usb out and of course 3.5 mm unbalanced  and 2.5 mm TRRS balanced.    I have had a few problems with Bluetooth on some devices but I think I have that's sorted.

The issue I need to resolve is one I raised in an earlier post on this forum associated with WiFi streaming.  It is related to the vagaries of third party Android music apps and how they discover music files on the X5-3.

I would like to stream to some Devialet Phantom speakers using the Devialet Spark Android app.  Spark  on the X5-3 recognises Phantom and can operate the speaker's volume etc.  However Spark can not find any of the music files on the X5.  The engineers at Devialet have advised:

"(the Spark app running fine but not being able to view the music files) might have something to do with the way the Fiio archives its storage. This sort of compatibility issue is frustratingly common with Android, with so many variations in the market; each manufacturer puts their own spin on things, which is a real headache for app developers."

So...dear FiiO  people can you help ???

Otherwise is there some clever head-fier out there who has a handle on a solution.  I have included some screen captures of the Spark app below.

However Spark can not find any of the music files on the X5.
...

Sorry, but I find it a bit to easy from the Devialet People to put the finger on Android and FIIO if they 'can't find any of the music files on the X5' ...

Other music player developers do not have that problem, so it is not a general Android / FIIO issue ...

I would agree with you HaPeKa, but there are number of Android music apps than do not recognise music files on the X5.

I know that here are also other apps that do recognise those files.

Interestingly my Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge Android smart phone using the identical Devialet Spark app, can see the same music files that the X5-3 can not see.

So there is some sort of contribution to the problem from FiiO code.  The recent firmware update from FiiO to address large music data base problems is testament to the problem.

Devialet are a manufacturer of hi-end gear who would have a lot to loose if they have not followed Android standards in their code.  But hey, it's still possible !

Anyway please, at this point, don't wave away the issue with an easy swipe at Devialet.

Hi there,

I found two issues associated with the FIIO player app.

- German Umlauts äöü and ÄÖÜ are not displayed correctly all the time.

I'n not shure, if this is a font or size issue, sometimes they are displayed correctly, sometimes not.
See attached screenshots 1 - 5

- Albums from different artists with the same albumname are displayed as one album.

e.g.  I have an album 'Love' from The Beatles and one from Züri West.
In the album view, there is only one album 'Love' with 38 tracks, however, 26 tracks are on the Beatles album and 12 on the one from Züri West.
I think, the album view should show two different albums ...
See attached screenshots 1 and 2

Received the X5 yesterday. Cannot connect to PC or WiFi. Can't use my phone microSD because encrypted cards are not supported. So far it doesn't look so great.
