Dear Fiio, could you be more precise when you say "exit the FiiO Music normally".
With the previous 1.1.6 was worst as when I switched on again, the preference changed from play by folder- last position , to play all music.

In order to keep the play mode, it is required not exiting the FiiO Music by using the square icon in the right bottom icon now. We will try improving this in later firmware.

I experimented a similar problem with the resume mode.If I play by folder, and then I do not listen leaving the X5iii to shut-off by itself, when it start again plays another song I have listen before...much more before..

The engineer told me this will be fixed in next firmware. Sorry for bringing inconvenience.

I have only asked for the basics to work with this CRAPPY player.

Play music - When it works it plays well.

Connect to my computer - It has NEVER connected properly with my laptop.

Transfer files - I knew this was asking too much of this damn player, I tried Wifi Direct and guess what? It does not work.

Quickly charge - Fiio advertise it as Quickcharge 2.0 so I purchased a Quickcharge charger, after just 4 months I have LOST ALL CHARGING.​


I am now using an old X5II that is working perfectly.

Never had a problem connecting to my computer.

Always transferred files correctly.

Quick Charge always works.

I guess you might have a faulty unit after all.

why would i exit Fiio music ? i just leave the X5 III going into sleep mode, and it happens when it wakes up from sleep.
Please don't tell me i have to shut down the X5 or close the Fiio music application everytime i have a break from it...

En, sorry for misunderstanding your operation. As we meet a similar feedback like your previous discription. But if you meet the sleep mode, the issue may be different. We will report to our engineer about that and ask them to have test to fix the issue. Thanks!

1. In FiiO Music set Simplicity white theme.
2. Install X5-ota-eng-20170801.zip
3. In FiiO Music select Classic blue (or Deep black) theme - FM reboot.
4. On the first screen press the play mode button (button with a musical note).
5. FM is crash and writes: Sorry, exception occurs, application will exit.
6. In FiiOLog/system folder of new logs does not appear.

Same goes for me, the player has just worked. The only problems I thought I had were down to the ripped files themselves, not a fault of the Fiio.
Currently using the new beta firmware with the white theme in Fiio Music and the X5iii still works.
Agree with superuser 1, it sounds like you may have a faulty unit; hopefully you will be able to get this replaced.

Nobody? Fiio any idea when kernel source code will be released? A lot of of legit complaints from user would be solved with the help of the developer community. I for one am ready to start work on a custom kernel to compliment this great player. As a loyal customer for years I plead you not to violate the gpl license.

Am close to pulling the trigger on this.
How bad is the hiss on the x5iii?

FWIW I have been using the X5iii with RHA CL1 Ceramic and have experienced no hiss whatsoever, the noise floor is silent, which is quite remarkable considering the CL1's are designed for use with amplifiers. Switched to High Gain, the X5iii drives these without breaking a sweat. The more pronounced treble of the CL1's compliments the warm sound of the Fiio and makes for a musical, non-fatiguing yet detailed sound. Hugely enjoyable.

I have been questioning this player from the start, I guess it shipped with a faulty USB that has now died.

I am waiting for the seller to respond, I have requested an exchange as it is just 4 months old and should the problems continue I will seek a refund.

I strongly suggest you try a replacement before you initiate refund. This is a great little player. It has its problems as do others. However, i have seen Fiio active and trying to help the situation rather than run when the crap hits the fan! If you know what i mean.

Yes, I guess it was defective from factory, but as others had similar issues it was put down to bugs.

I have requested an exchange, in the mean time I am using my old X5II that is working perfectly.

Yes, I have requested an exchange as I really like the design and sound quality. Hopefully, the issues that I had will be absent in the replacement such as not being able to connect to my USB 3.0 ports.
