In theory, the Hiby Music app should let you control the device from your phone via Bluetooth (assuming you’re using the Hiby player), but I can’t seem to get it to work properly.

quality control is not related, i guess they had an initial batch with he fiio logo and then for "X" reasons they get rid of the logo on front glass, mine has no logo as well.

This dap X5 , is good for starters!?.I have never listen music , on such devices.

The X5iii is an exceptional but erratic device and whether or not you buy it should really depend on your needs and how you intend to use it. Will you be primarily streaming music or listening to locally stored files? Via wired or bluetooth headphones? It's an easy enough device to learn how to use but for all its quirks and the almost two years since initial release, you ought to do your homework before spending 250 euros on it.

For the money, I'd buy a Hiby R3 if I were you. They're not a perfect comparison but unlike the x5iii the R3 really just works, is well supported and doesn't suffer from a million quirks that may ruin your experience.

I bought it right when the X5III came out. I never upgraded the firmware and everything always works. Usually been using Onkyo music player on it.

Has anyone else compared the FiiO X5 Gen 3 to the newer A&K SR15 norma?i'd be curious to hear what they think.
power wise(both battery and output to 3.5 and 2.5), sound, interface(physical and internal UI), usability(transfering stuff, using as pc DAC).

Do Tidal files, online or offline, play well? Any stuttering or freezing of specific songs? This was my experience with the X7 1st gen.

I think I made a mistake last night. I turned wifi on on my X5III and it told me of an update. So I did the update and one of the results is now I have to turn it on and off like three times to get it to recognize BOTH memory cards. Bah. I have a two step solution for this. Step one, I ordered a 400GB card from Amazon on sale for under $80. Step two is I am purchasing another player from another user here. I'm going to try the Pioneer XPD-300R and see what that is like.
Makes me sad Fiio, makes me sad. I am one of your dumbass fanboys.

That's interesting. There doesn't seem to be any mention of it on the forums. Maybe it was a defective release and they canned it just after it was pushed to your device.

You should still be able to revert to 1.2.1 though. Press Power+Previous+Play buttons for about 30sec and it should fire up the bootloader, where you can reflash the old firmware. Your SD cards should still be intact though.

Agree with you on the quality control though, especially software...

I had a similar problem with the device not reading both cards. Had to restart it several times but all seems well now.

FWIW, I also have two Pioneer XDP-100’s. They beat the FIIO X5 hands down!!!

A 400gb card for $80 is an amazing deal. Best I’ve seen I’d around $120.
