What is the In Vehicle mode of the X5 3rd gen exactly, and how does this "special" accessory make it work?

Will the X5 plug directly into my car's USB port?

What functionality can I expect in this mode?

What won't I have when using In Vehicle?

Thanks

When vehicle engine is ignited, the X5 3rd gen will power on too. When you shutdown the engine, the X5 3rd  will stop playing and power off. If the Resume mode is turned on, it will play songs directly after the car starts.

If you want to listen to music on the car with X5 3rd gen , it's suggested to connect the X5 3rd gen to the  speakers on the car with a 3.5mm audio cable. The default output mode  is Line Out under In-Vehicle mode.

@FiiO-Shadow Thank you very much. I followed your instructions and got it running as USB DAC. What do you suggest I use as output.. ASIO/ WASAPI or KS?

Edit: No matter what protocol i use i really have to crank up the volume on the X5.. say above 95 on H gain. I just want to understand if that is normal.

Edit 2: It was that particular track i have that needed more power (Distant Galaxy Op. 81 - Vladimir Ashkenazy).. Other tracks that are better mastered sound fantastic on the other hand with less power.

The ASIO/WASAPI/KS are using different audio channels. If you cannot hear the difference among them, you may try to choose ASIO, which generally should have less latency.

As for the volume, did you connect through Headphone port or Line Out?  And is it the same when you directly play the songs on the X5?

Thanks. I was under the initial impression that it would provide some kind of iPod like functionality through the USB cable.

The connection was made from headphone port and the while using the player the volume is a little better but i still do have to  crank it up to 80

Thank you hope it will:) I looked up some Chinese retailers online but it doesn't seem to be released yet thou.. Can't wait for release

I am excited too.  Hoping to get a red X5 3 and a red leather case that was shown a few pages back.  I hope the sound is an improvement over my original X5 and the UI looks like it already is.  Looks like a winner so far.

@jmills8 Do you have to crank up the volume this high even when using headphones directly with the X5III?
