I tried different ones and decided for BubbleUPnP Server despite the not so friendly user interface.
But it offers the best and fastest way for me to choose on the MMI, what I want to hear.

Once connected, you can put FiiO X5 away, the communication between the MMI and FiiO goes over WiFi and X5 is controlled by the MMI only.

As my music is saved as \Artist\Album\Title it's the easiest for me to search.

On the MMI main menu, I first choose from
- Internal Music
- External SD Card
- External SD 2

Then, I have fast access to the folders and can choose very fast, what I'd like to hear.

Thank you very much HaPeKa,
So I am gping to try Bubbleupnp again.

Regards
Guenter

It works for Tidal except that, after about 3 songs, it starts glitching and skipping on the track playing - which can only be corrected by skipping a track forward or back. Then it goes back to normal for a few more tracks before suddenly glitching again. This has been reported to Fiio by a few people but they still don't seem to have done anything about it in the latest fw. There's a similar issue with Qobuz but that one seems to be far more intermittent.
Hey @FiiO, any update on this and when it might be fixed?

Well if you're going with hybrids there is also the 1more Triple Drivers, that I do own. They sound obviously good with the X5-3 but I don't feel there is anything special with this association. In my opinion when pairing 100$ IEM's with your X5, the weak link of your chain will be the IEM's and the potential of your dap will not be fully exploited. While the 1More's have great value I still think there is a gap between them and 300$+ models.

I have been using the 1More triples with my X5III since I got it. I really like the sound... never felt I was missing much. I certainly do not think that they are a serious impediment to my enjoyment of the system. But, I am not a believer in the fact that adding more money is the answer to better quality in and of itself. If somebody has a budget of around $100 I would recommend them as something to try.
I came into a set of Sony MDR Ex1000 a couple of weeks ago. I also really like them, but for different reasons. I find the highs and the size of the presentation to be better but I am not fond of the ergonomics at all. Now I am spending more money finding tips that work and a balanced cable... but they do sound good. Had I not been given them, I would not have spent the $300 plus over the 1More to get them.
Obviously this is all about my personal priorities, but I do avoid saying that anyone "needs" to spend X dollars to find a good fit for what they are looking for.

The FiiO Music DLNA client is still broken with FW1.1.5. It sees my server and folder structure without any problems, but only displays .mp3 files and no .flac files, which are the vast majority of my music collection. Both UAPP and Foobar access all my .flac files perfectly, so I know there is no issue with my DLNA server.
I suspect that you have your profiles set up wrong on your server. My default profile includes FLAC and my X5 can see all my FLAC files on my server.
I don't know which DLNA server you have, but here is some information about DLNA profiles from Plex:https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/73702/writing-profiles-for-dlna-devices

Yes, if you configured it correctly, you can operate X5 through the Audi MMI Interface only, very easy ...
Looks like the following:

Hi Guys,

i just become an owner of an X5 III :-D , currently try to connect with my PC to use as external DAC, but having problem to download the PC software.
I see that it should be in dropbox but because of some reason i'm not able to open the link from FIIO website.
Anybody can help?

I had before the X3 II where it was worked fine, and i still have the FIIO SW on my PC but did not recognise the new X5.

Thx,
Peter

Oh ok I didn't know I could do that. :)
Just tried it and I have to admit that the lag kinda fades away (watching videos on Youtube is much better for instance).
However I still have the issue where if my computer doesn't make a sound for a little while, the DAC mode seems to get in idle mode and needs 2-3 seconds of sound to get back up.
Dear IwishIcanFLighT,

Thank you for the kind feedback. I will report this to our engineer and have a look at it.

Best regards

Dear Brian A,

Thank you for your kind feedback. Could you please tell us what's the DLNA server you are using? We will try to improve this issue in later firmware. Sorry for bringing inconvenience to you.

Best regards

Hi Peter

You need the newest version of the USD DAC driver. I made the mistake of using the one I had saved on my laptop, that worked for everything including the X7, but not the X5iii.

Once installed the X5iii has worked faultlessly as a USB Dac using Foobar2000.

Regards

Darren

Spotify issues: This morning I powered up my X5 (I usually don't shut it down) and spotify asked me me to log back in again. Note that I use facebook login. At the time I launched Spotify I was not connected to the internet.

I got to work, connected my X5 to wifi, launched spotify and it connected without asking a login, but my offline library was gone.

Now I'm downloading a few songs again. I've checked my offline devices on the spotify webpage but I still have a single offline device, which has been updated yesterday.
