FiiO X5 2nd gen Impressions and Discussion thread

Hi guys, I notice that the gapless playback on the X5 2nd gen is a setting.  Are there any limitations?  I am a bit confused as to why gapless is not just a default capability in all portable audio players, but I'm no expert on them.

Gapless is an option on the X5 Classic as well. I turned it on immediately. :)

For any West Coast Canadians (and the rest of Canada) Headphonebar has the X5ii in stock. Original X5 is $100 off.

At $100 off, the X5 Classic is A WIN!!!

I still can't believe myluckydogs sold a brand-new, unopened, X5 Classic for $195. I've been thanking my lucky stars all weekend as I put hour after hour of exquisite sound into my ears. :D

Nowhere else on eBay do you find prices even approximating that. I know, because I keep looking... out of gleeful curiosity.

Sort of. In Canada even $100 off is only $25 less than the initial retail price in the U.S..

Yes that's right. I feel quite enamored with it currently. Loving the sound. I've always loved the look of this device. But the Avatar may have been a mistake. Without the Pinky portrait my posts are a challenge to spot whilst scrolling. :xf_eek:

Let's skip right over the X3II to ask any of you X1 owners, how do you compare sound quality between the X1 and X5II?

(Subjective I know, but still curious about hearing different feedback)

Why am I in this thread??? Let go of my wallet, I hate this site!

It's interesting that the new X5ii is selling for the same price here in Canada as the original X5 price was, i.e., $425.00.

But as I pointed out some time ago, the new X3ii is selling for much more here than the original X3 was.

Some claimed it had to do with the Canadian dollar being so low. But the dollar is just as bad now as it was then.

I'm glad the price structure is more fair for the X5ii.

I bought my wife the X1 along with some nice IEM's so I've had a chance to listen to it for a couple/few hours every once in a while. I really like the UI and it's a HUGE step up from DAP like the Sansa Clip, but it sounds thin and closed in compared to the X5 & X5 II in my opinion. Keep in mind that the X5 & X5 II cost 3 times as much as the X1 so that doesn't mean that the X1 isn't the best sounding player at its price point.

If I wanted a DAP in the $100 range I'd buy the X1 in a heartbeat and would simply enjoy my music
