I can't comment on the PM-3's but I am running Bowers and Wilkins P7s with my Fiio and they sound great straight out, but even better through the E12A Mont Blanc.

If you get a chance to try them out, they are lovely headphones and so well made, just thought I would throw my 2c behind them

Oh no, I don't know what to do ! ?

I've heard nothing but GREAT things about the PM-3's and I can tell you for certain that the B&W P7's sound wonderful paired with the X5 II. Good luck!

You should know that I bought EX1 some days ago and sell it after 3 days. It`s really not good headphones. Very..VERY...bright (with X5-II). I was very uncomfortable to listen to them and would rather pull out from ears.

You must be treble sensitive.

I loved the EX1 with all of the Fiio DAPs

May be it is. But when two person prefer sound from HD650 and Westone W20 (which also has an accent on treble, but in moderation) - this seems to be truth. I just recommend to listen EX1 before you buy.

Earphone impressions for a particular model of earphones are a pot-luck combination of fit, tip selection and personal ear canal physiology / acoustics. Unfortunately there's no one-size-fits-all best IEM for everybody. :xf_eek:

I'm not disagreeing with you.  It's obviously too bright for your tastes. I'm just supplying some balance. IMO it does pair nicely with the Fiio DAPs - but then again, I don't have your treble sensitivity. And the W20 are supposed to be quite warm and smooth - rather than bright, and the HD650 are definitely not bright headphones.  So I guess it depends on your reference point.

The matter of perspective is even funnier when you consider that Hd650 might sound warm and smooth for one and too laid back for another.

I think that it should be a head rule to never buy equipment without listening as even one's personal tastes might change over time.

That being said, I am very curious about EX1

Thank you for the info, Joe, but unfortunately I can't tolerate in ear headphones.

( Regards my choice, I want to get away from too much brightness, I'm looking for a balanced natural sound, across the whole spectrum. )

Apart from subjectivism, there is also a more rational explaination : sound engineer ! The first signature you hear is the one chosen on the recording. I could think my AKG K550 is too bassy when listening to some crap floating around...

I own the PM-3s and have herd the B&Ws when I was looking for a better set. If you want balanced natural sound, the PM-3s are it.
And if you don't like them you can return them.

I'm definitely leaning towards the PM-3's at the moment. I listen to lots of different music, are they good with all vocal styles. ( I always think the vocals should be the main body of a listening experience. )
