The reason is Samsung's removal of the new hardware layer "Qualcomm Bluetooth High Speed Link", which offers data transfer rates of 2 to 6 Mbps

The actual reason (at least I think it is the one) is that Samsung used AOSP Bluetooth stack instead of Qualcomm's one, probably because of SSC.
I guess it would be possible to do something about this with root (it's possible to get LHDC on Red Magic 8 Pro according to this xda thread, and it didn't support LHDC initially), so maybe there's a way to get QHS working on Samsung phones as well. But it will require root, is the bootloader even unlockable on Samsung phones? Maybe you can ask author there if it's possible.

The self-connect issue finally gone! The EQ settings also stays as I defined them for every profile!
The only problem is that the range is less than the UTWS3. Can it be extended to match UTWS3?
I'm using the APTX and AAC codex only, and the range issue not related to the LDAC in the latest firmware.
Indeed, that the most significant bugs been fixed in 1.73

Thank you, @FiiO and you are right. After setting the Font Size to a smaller size on my S23 Ultra, the text appeared correctly. I will return the font size to its previous size, though, because it appears too small for me now. Is it possible to adjust the text size automatically? I am not facing any similar (cut off) text issue with any other App on my phone.

Since I'm here, I'd like to further report that, since updating to 1.73, I did not have any other arbitrary reconnection of the UTWS5 to my phone. This issue has been resolved for me, and thank you @FiiO

Perhaps it's worth mentioning that my UTWS5 is not paired with any other device, I am not using Battery Protection, not using Game Mode, never used EQ, Ambient Sound is off and I'm not using LDAC, either, I've left it to aptX, because LDAC does not work.

Hello, I've recently bought one and upgrade it to 1.73 firmware however I've experienced random drops and sometimes the connection would drop and/or made crackling sound. For issue
a. Random connection drops -> I put it back in the case, let it sit for 30 secs and take it out.. usually it solves the problem however this is quite a nuisance since I'm using UTWS5 for workout and it's a troublesome to drag the case everywhere I go
b. Crackling sound -> Song would suddenly stopped and it made a crackling sound as if the connection isn't able to handle the transfer

I'm using Fold4 and would like LDAC as the codec however these two case has made me rethink to downgrade my firmware to 1.5 but that means I'm going to stuck with basic aptX (not lossless).

Would love FiiO to look on this case although I'm a bit nervous to go full wireless but needless to say, I'm lovin it, so much better than the regular TWS out there!

The conditions were absolutely same when I noticed a shorter range for UTWS5 in comparison to UTWS3.
I can live with the shorter range issue, but just wondering why more superior and expensive product has such disadvantage.

You won’t get lossless with the fold or most Samsung phones as the company turns features supported by the chip off.
I get clrackling noises with LDAC. It is listed in the developers menu, but not in the normal menus. So in reality, LDAC is not properly supported by Samsung at least, my fold 3 has no real support for it. Also, I had the Fold 4 for a week, and I returned it because wifi 6e was not supported (not showing in the available wifi networks) even though my USA purchased Fold 3 does. I am in the UK so maybe Samsung castrated that too for the uk market. In any case, upgrading to the Fold 5 is now out of the question and I’ll be looking at other brands when the Fold 3 dies.

FiiO's experimental LDAC does not work (properly) on my Samsung S23 Ultra, either, but the LDAC implementation of my iFi GO Pod works fine. With my UTWS5, I am using aptX on my Samsung phone.

Just reporting that, like v1.71, firmware v1.73 works just fine with my Xperia 1 IV with LDAC running at 990kbps without any issue. In contrast, I can only get iFi GO Pod to do 660kbps at most.

@FiiO Now that we have LDAC finally working (at least for some of us) and with UTWS5 almost 2 yrs-old now, it is time to give the UTWS7 a thought.

Unfortunately, I don't know the solution. Of course, bright heads from XDA will certainly be able to solve this problem, but they need to be interested in this. At the moment, several people are interested in this, and they are all here. Samsung owners take headphones from the same company and think they got a quality product.

Refused to buy S23 for the same reason. AptX Lossless with QHS is definitely available in Asus Zenfone 9 and 10.

With your latest firmware 1.73, I cannot adjust the volume when I am pairing my UTWS5 with my BTA30 Pro.

I have a second pair of the UTWS5 which still runs firmware 1.5 and this one works fine. When paired with my BTA30 Pro, the volume can be adjusted from the ear-hook buttons.

Can you try this, yourself?
Can you offer a solution?

PS: The volume adjustment, as well as all the rest, functions as intended when paired with my smartphone. The issue is only with the BTA30 Pro.
