James have you considered something like MusicPiped (this streams any music from youtube) and is a youtube lightweight music only alternative.

EDIT: And wishing you a very Happy Chinese New Year!!

Thanks and have CNY to everyone too!, Our PM will collect all the advice in here , if it is good to user and within our ability , we will add it in the future.

I thnk it will be good to the user as well as very light on the resources. Ask your guys to take a look.. would be interesting to have all the music available on youtube in a light stand alone app and have loads of fun!! Wishing everyone as Fiio a HAPPY CNY!!

James, any chance of getting viper android whitelisted? Or hiby music because it has magic 8 ball dsp?

Thanks, and enjoy the long holiday :) I’m a bit jealous as we only get one day at New Years.

HIBY music is design for a full-android based device so it is not suitable in M6/M7/M9, and that is the same reason we make a different FiiO MUSIC APP for Exynos7270.

About Viper, I think it also not suitable for this custom android system too.

Many may ask why a Youtube music app? There are many many thousands of unique live music recordings on Youtube. They are free. I have tried to watch them on ES File explorer, google, youtube, on the M9 and M6. But because resource heavy video and music are not synchronised I just listen. Youtube sounds great on the M6/M9. To have a pure audio app, MusicPiped, for YouTube which is not resource heavy would be great. Cannot see why it would damage resources with no video. Good choice.

Oh so they must have a custom setup on hiby R3 because that’s not full android. It just would be cool to have some advanced sound/Eq effects.

Thanks for the reply.

@FiiO

Availability woes...

My habitual supplier here in Switzerland has written to me:

"thanks for your e-mail.

The FiiO M6 are completly sold out. Not just in Switzerland, at FiiO. We could expect the next delivery from FiiO midle / end of March. Sorry for that!"

Can you please advise the situation as you are seeing it at source, so to speak? It's quite dire if there's going to be a 6-8 week delivery delay.

If it's the case I will have to consider scouring the likes of Ebay and such to try and locate an example :frowning2:

Thanks in advance...

Anyone else having the problem where the micro-sd card is not recognized after some time, then you need to physically remove and insert the card again to get it to work? Very annoying...
Ouch, SD Cards are a pain in the ass sometimes. What brand are you using? I had a lot of trouble with Kingston (probably fake, who knows) but with Sandisk I'm doing alright so far. Did you try another one?

I feel good with the Samsung EVO, I had at home a 32Gb and for now I had no problems.
I ordered a 128GB Class 10 Samsung EVO on AliExpress found on offer at € 19.76.

It’s a good card, and nowadays I feel safer buying from Ali than Amazon- because they’ve had a run of fakes.

Hi, do you also use a different /upgraded cable from the standard cable that comes with the TRN V80? Strangely the upgrade cable works fine on some other sources, like my computer or my iPhone.
And if a cable is broken or shorted, it is broken and there's no sound. It's more like it is an impedance issue between M6 and this cable, but then again, a normal audio cable shouldn't be any issue with impedance at all.

So I'm puzzled what could be the problem. The cable does work, but when I connect my M6, it causes the DAC or AMP to produce a very high pitched squeal in the background.

I think i have the exact same 8-wire trn cable as you do. Did you check that the 3,5mm jackplug is fully inserted in the M6?

Hiby R3 is not based on Android .

Hi McLambo, I've checked everything. The only thing I can think of is that there's just one strand of wire slightly shorting at the plug or the connectors, causing a strange load on the Amp/Dac. The M6 is probably more sensitive to this then
others. What I did notice though, besides the background noise, is that the overall sound with this thicker cable is MUCH better. I think I'll order a new one.

Finally got my M6 a while ago, and I'm loving every minute from it. Immediately updated the firmware to the latest one via OTA. Definitely the most affordable Android-based, WiFi-capable DAP you could buy right now. Contrary to what a few others have said in this thread, this DAP actually has great sounding bass, and its bass sounds great even on neutral-sounding IEMs like the much-hyped-right-now Final E1000, and sounds even better on KZ IEMs (in which most of their models has a V-shaped sound signature).

Just noticed something odd when browsing music using Folder view. It seems like the folders' ordering is chronological, not alphabetical, in which I find weird for a player of this caliber. Maybe it has something to do with my microSD card, which is formatted in FAT32.

EDIT: Just Google'd around, and it looks like FAT32 is the culprit. The solution is to use any program that sorts out FAT32 directories. Would try an exFAT-formatted microSD one later.

There are so many new iems, especially from China it blows my mind. I knew you’d like the m6 :) I hope they keep whitelisting apps. Oh and the Bluetooth is really good.

I want to try the kanas pros and the bgvp dm6.
