Has anybody been able to run Spotify or Tidal through a dac/amp from usb out? I’m using my new IFI xdsd and I can go wireless and do Spotify and tidal but not through the usb out. Which of course sounds a bit better

Fair comment, albeit slightly brusquely executed. I was, however, referring to a lack of any comment here by fiio for a long time, not just relevant to my issue with the search.
They just released a new firmware for X7/X7MKII/X5III so it would be fair to assume the engineers have been busy with that. I'm sure we'll see a search fix eventually but until then you'll need to find a workaround.

They look pretty compact, the names these companies come up with :)
Not the best fit however, it has a strangely decent synergy with the M6. Otherwise it may come across as having bloated bass with other sources i have tired.

Hi @FiiO

I'm not sure if there is policy to reply to problems or bug fixes on these pages but perhaps you could advise if I'm wasting my time collating and sending message?

Some weeks ago I advised this:

"@FiiO

I have a question, is it just me or is the search on the fiio app broken?

I can't get my head around it... I type, say "Genesis" in the search box. It kindly shows me a couple of TRACKS with the word genesis in them, then the fact that there 132 tracks of the ARTIST genesis, and finally one ALBUM called genesis. If i click on the ARTIST icon (Imagining in some other logic based universe that it would go to the artist, genesis), it immediately starts playing the 132 genesis tracks. I can see all the tracks in a big "playlist" but it doesn't even mention which album they are from.

i.e. theres no flippin way to show the albums of the artist "genesis", via the search feature. What???

1stly, is this normal? 2ndly how do you work around it and why is it not clamoured for being changed in these pages? :)

BTW I've had the M6 for around 18hrs now. Lots to love. The form factor, screen and sound are great. Qobuz works OK too."

then subsequently this:

"@FiiO

please can I have a response to the above?

Also ref the folder view, why is the text truncated ? And why have the folder icon taking up valuable real estate? the width should be used in its entirety to MAXIMISE the folder text. Even the play buttons for each folder is superfluous; short press to open folder, long press to play, for example.

Also in album view, it would great to see the Artist also as a subset of the information

These "little" things would make the player so great!

Or simply whitelist some 3rd party players, like UAPP for example.

Neither of these 2 posts have received a response to acknowledge the issues.

Please can you advise further as my time is precious to me and I would not like to spend it further trying to elicit a response if there is to be none forthcoming. However, both of these issues are important, especially the non-functioning search feature which is extremely frustrating, as there are no other apps one can use as alternative.

Thanks in advance.
Dear friend,

For the first problem you mentioned, we will fix in later firmware update.
For the second suggestion you mentioned, we have report to the engineers about that. The will check and consider about that. Thanks for your kind feedback.

Best regards

And the stuttering tidal when using Bluetooth, cmon where’s James!
Dear friend,

Have you tried to update the Tidal in 2.11.4 for check? Because some users mentioned their issue with Tidal solved after the APP update.

Best regards

@superuser1 Haha, maybe the limit is upto 200GB, rather than 256. I know that's a stretch, so you might be right. The user did say that both SD cards were FAT32. As far as I know, there shouldn't be a difference between 128 and 256 formatting between those two. Not sure what exFAT does specifically, but from what I remember, the differences should not matter in theory, as both cards were below 2 tb (limit for FAT32) and I assume file sizes for updates would be less than 4 gb. Other considerations is that the cards read/write speed, etc. It's good to know that there are reports of high capacity Sandisk Cards successfully doing the OTA update.

I think there was only one issue, I updated with a 200gb Sandisk with no problems. I don’t think it’s the brand or size of the card. Maybe file format, maybe some files it didn’t like, who knows. He can use the card so no real harm, and my quess would be from the info Fiio has no idea either and to try a new card would be a logical next step.

Doesn’t mean all 256 Sandisk cards wont work With OTA update

@FiiO you're aware of problems with LDAC? I've got choppy playback when connected to OnePlus 6 via Bluetooth in DAC mode - using LDAC I can only use FiiO Music app as streaming services are very unstable/choppy (tried TIDAL, Spotify, Bandcamp and Deezer), things got worse when M6 is paired with BTR3 - LDAC is not usable here except FiiO Music app playing files from SD card - this is OK, rest so TIDAL Deezer etc is not usable. I found a solution - disabled LDAC in BTR3, left only AptX HD (yellow FiiO mark on BTR3) and this solved my issues so there's something wrong with LDAC on M6.

Dear friend,

Could you please check which Wireless playback quality you choose on the M6? (Settings -> Audio-> Wireless playback quality)

If selecting "LDAC sound quality first", and at the same time, you are listenning the streaming music on M6 after connecting with WiFi, then the CPU usage will be a little higher, which will cause a certain degree of intermittent on the output. We are afraid that it could not improved by software. And it is the hardware reason.

So it is suggested to select “LDAC connection first” on M6 if you want to enjoy the streaming music.

Best regards
