That is either the DAC filters at work, or its my measurement system - it always struggles measuring DACs. I suspect its the roll-off from the filters though.

If I measure just the amp sections with RMAA - all devices pretty much measure flat.

The thing to concentrate on is the bass though. There is no deviation. The X5iii (pink) has always been described as quite warm - and that could be due to some high end roll-off due to the DAC filters. Even though i know the E17K is essentially dead flat - it always seems slightly bright to me. Perhaps because it is so flat.

The M9 and M7 are practically identical in terms of frequency response.
Right, haha, sorry your picture was pretty clear on how perfectly aligned the bass is so I didn't think it was worthwhile to comment on something obvious and I just jumped at what seemed curious to me. Thanks for taking the time to measure the M6, comparing it with the other daps, and explaining stuff in an empirical manner for those of us who are looking to know more about the M6. Haha, I hope that there will be more non subjective comparisons here in the future. :)

Still it's very disrespectful to talk in such a patronizing way about people, who actually own an M6 and have actual experience with the device, come here and share those experiences which seem to differ from expectancies based on advertised capabilities.

I would be very much looking forward to hear your personal experiences of the M6 after actually listening to it, and comparing it to any devices of the same class that you undoubtedly have used in your many years of hifi audio gear experience.

Sorry if I offended anyone, just joking. My M0 also uses an ESS sabre amp/DAC chip and based on reviews I have read it likely has a very similar sound signature. So I think I will like it very much as I do with my M0 and looking forward to actually trying on when available.

Fing love this little thing! Everything works and it sounds really really good. Definitely the best sounding ‘tiny’ dap I’ve ever heard. Actually very close in quality to my AK SR15 and I don’t have to watch the battery whittle away before my very eyes.

Sound is clean and fairly neutral and the bass is excellent. It gets deep and has great impact when called for and output is very black.

The Orb was just blasting my eardrums with bass using AK T8IEii.

Some other pics with size comparison with AP80.

And yes this is easily my favorite betwix M0, AP80, R3, N3, NW A35/40, Plenue D, Clip+ ( rockbox’d)- actually the clip isn’t even close.

I’m a sucker for small daps, great job Fiio!

1) Mixed size, nothing much over 1000kb
2) It seems to happen to all formats, MP3, ALAC, FLAC etc.
3) Yes, DoP and D2P (See Pic - Tidal Masters MQA - The Eagles, Hotel California. Red denotes 44kbps)
Sometimes, it doesn't send a signal to the Mojo at all!

4) I’ll re-format to NTFS as it’s more modern and faster.
Dear friend,

Does the crackling happen in the internal storage as well? Can the Tidal work fine if you are using headphone out? If yes, we will try to report to Tidal about that for checking,

Best regards

Can someone explain how the M6 supports reading/importing of external m3u/m3u8 playlists? ie where do you put the files on the card, do the file path uses direct/relative path, Linux/Window style slashes etc

I'm looking to use the M6 with my KSE1200 - the features looks perfect for it (good physical size, 3.5mm line out mode that is low noise, flat and clean, smartphone app control over BT), the general UI from what I gathered from the M7/M9 looks solid so my only remaining concern is m3u playlists support. I had a Hiby R3 which ticks similar boxes but the poor m3u support completely killed it for me to the point where I sold it off. If someone can tell me how to get m3u to work I'm going to prep a SD card and go demo it at the store once it is available.
Dear friend,

You may read this instruction about creating the playlist.

Best regards

Where is the instruction? Really appreciate if you can show me because even Google hasn't been able to give me that answer. :)

EDIT: guess poking around on the Fiio site led me to it
http://fiio.me/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=43891&extra=page=1

so tl;dr for others
m3u playlists must be placed on root of SD card
file path requires full absolute path name
Linux style back slash for path names

Am I missing anything? Would be nice if you guys can change full absolute path to relative path, would seem to save a lot of headaches in the creation process as well as software compatibility with programs such as MusicBee for people whom want to stream line DAP syncing process with music management software

Hi @FiiO

No crackling on the storage files.
Tidal works with headphones and with digital out to the Mojo but it does not output HD. Only 16/44 when playing Tidal HiFi MQA.
The volume control is also active when it should be pure digital.

What iems are people pairing with the M6? I am on the lookout for a new pair to complement the M6. I mainly listen to EDM, electronic music

I keep looking at the final e4000, BGVP DMG,

I've also seen the moondrop Kanas pro and that has grabbed my attention

Anybody listen to similar music and can recommend iems or share what they're using?
