About the Battery Design of the Portable Desktop-Class Player FiiO M17
Some users have always suggested that we apply the replaceable 18650 lithium battery to our products. However, we found that it can only be accommodated in the existing M17 and Q7. Here are two obvious issues the product would face if using a 18650 lithium battery.
1) The battery capacity will be reduced from 9200mAh to 7000mAh, i.e. a 30% shrinkage of the battery life.
2) The replaceable battery design needs a battery cover for protection, which means it would take up the original standard coaxial output port on the M17. In this case, the coaxial output has to move to the top and share the 3.5mm headphone output.

By the way, the M17 has a desktop mode. When working under the desktop mode, the built-in battery will be disabled. This helps to protect the battery and thus achieve more durable battery life.

Do you think it is necessary to change the battery design? We would love to know what you think.

My next DAP would be FiiO if this were to become implemented.

Too many devices we own, ones that cost a lot simply expire, this has to stop being the case at some point.

@FiiO Any plans to release a new version of the M17 with replaceable batteries and a more refined cooling system than today's fan stand?

Just realized that he actually quoted Fiio questions that posted on 2022. I think it's not going to happen, if anything, maybe Fiio just release a new model / new design, or... not. the M17 still competent device to date and not going to be obsolete soon.

but Yeah he got his point right, battery life problem and android version problem, these are the main problem of this gen DAP, not the sound quality

I heard this year android 12 is coming to M17 and M27 should be released at the end of the year.
And he said that, once stabilized in the M17, they would update other Android 10 models such as M11 and M15S to Android 12. I have the M11 Plus ESS and this move would be very welcomed--the hardware and Snapdragon 660/RAM can certainly handle the upgrade.

Folks - I'm the Fiio M17 owner and absolutely love it with ZMF/Meze (obviously tuned with the right gain, balanced cable and DAC filter). One question though: what charger can you recommend, as have mixed feelings, seeing not much about it in the manual? Technically, it can be any QC3.0 or PD type one, but again there is a warning not to exceed certain Volts, Amps and Watts, so realistically any modern USB charger should be OK, but again they kind of warn you not to use anything more powerful than what is commonly available on the market. Realistically then, I'm looking for a charger that charges my DAP really fast, but won't damage it. Let me know what your experience is. Tks.

My M17 has developed a strange issue. Whenever it's plugged into DC power through the PL50 it will turn on. The only way to turn it off and keep it off is to unplug it entirely from the power supply.

Normally it's set to charge only when off but now that won't work since it won't stay off when connected to the power supply. @FiiO Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a solution?

My next step appears to be completing a factory reset and hope for the best.

Did you try to change the switch on the right side of the M17, The power switch , as you want to use DC power only or through the battery? did you try to hold the power button after?
