Just a simple thing: But have you restarted the M17 at all? Try doing that before running the updater. No, I mean trying to apply FW 1.0.4 always fails with the installer crashing; I have 1.0.3 installed now. It fails regardless of whether I use your online installer, or try to install it from the local image i downloaded from your site. I'll reedit this post from the M17 and add some screen captures. I have around 40 Gigs free on both the internal and external SDs.
As Ben86 recommended I'll try a factory reset and try the FW update again.
Update:
I cleared the data and cache of the update app. Then tried the firmware update for the 4th or more time...
Downloading...
Downloaded and ready to be installed. I clicked install...
BOOM. It crashes immediately every time.
This is how the Update app looks . Nothing to see here as far as I can tell...
You have any ideas? Could there be an annoying Android security setting that needs to be applied? Any idea what ?
I said I was going to try a system reset as someone suggested. But I think now I'd really like to avoid that. Hope you can assist here.
Second, make sure that the updater is on the internal storage.
If you have done both and it still fails, then I'd just go for the factory reset. It's going to be faster than trying to track down exactly what specifically is causing it to screw up, unless someone knows where to find crash logs and the like in Android.
