Probably have to buy FH7:grinning:
Really, the FH7 is a "wow" upgrade over the FH5. They fit sonically and physically exactly like the FH5, but, to my ears, just offer more, more, more, than the FH5. It's rather like whacking a great dose of more of everything great to the FH5. When I first fired up the FH7 (and keep in mind FH5 was my daily driver for the last year) there was no need for any brain adjustment, it was just "wow"; another analogy is like taking a dirty pair of glasses and giving them a good clean. Or getting a new pair of glasses :)

The very link you're talking about clearly states quad-rate, dvs 24-bit / 352.8kHz. There's no technical reason, the output is just not DSD256 even if the app indicates it...

Hmm, good point, wasn't paying attention. Let's see, it would be 2.8224/32=88.2 at DSD. Quad is 11.2896, so DSD256 to 352.8kHz PCM. The FiiO M11 supports that - so I guess it's not out of bounds at all.

They even talk Native DSD256. I guess another one of its "selling points". But as @Jujoe said, its not not mentioned in the specs page. Hope they haven't removed it, because if so they've forgotten to remove it from fiio.com/m11

High-res music formats supported
Up to PCM 384kHz, and native DSD256

A firmware update will fix the issue its just a case of waiting :)

Hi, we have already verified this issue, from the preliminary analysis, this is caused by a bug and can be solved by firmware update.
Now we are still in further confirm, we will release a update as soon as possible once we solve it.

And I’m sure the five people in the world that listen to DSD256 with a dap will be delighted when it arrives :p

I've always got one DSD256 on hand :p

Look out lads, more Daps on the way, even an M15Pro, lol.
But don't stress if you are happy with your current M11, you made an excellent choice, and no need for FOMO

------------------------------

Stories about the M11 and the M11PRO-By James (CEO)

M11 and M11 PRO had been showed on CanJam London 2019 and Hong Kong High-End Audio & Visual Show 2019 and they were well received by many audiophiles. Many of them were asking about the ETA and price and some of them couldn’t decide between M11 and M11PRO. In this regard, I would like to give a brief explanation of the issues that everyone cares about.

1. M11/M11RPO/M15/M15PRO are the four models of the high-end player product line. They’re different products of different market positioning and there are obvious differences between these models, especially the sound. In terms of appearance/function, M11 and M11PRO are very similar; M15/M15RPO are also similar. All these four models will be equipped with Exynos 7872 and the 5.15-inch 18:9 screen. Therefore, there is no substitute relationship between these four models.

In fact, they’re like Huawei P30/P30PRO, iPhone XR and iPhone XS. Their positioning are different and you can choose according to your own budget and need.

2. M11PRO is estimated to be available in Oct based on the current situation. However, due to the rapid changes in the market in recent years, and various FiiO’s product lines, we might not be able to meet every user’s need.

3, M11RPO has no final retail price yet, but it is expected to be around 700USD. Retail price have always been determined based on the cost and reasonable margins. As the M11PRO hasn’t been produced yet and the cost cannot be confirmed yet, please understand if the final price is not what we said now.

4. The main differences of M11/M11RPO:
4.1, M11PRO DAC changed to dual AK4497.
4.2, The amplifier of M11PRO is changed to THX AAA78 module.
4.3, Because the AK4497 power consumption is too large, the thickness of the M11PRO is increased by 1mm to increase the battery capacity, but the single-end battery life is lowered to about 9.5 hours.
4.4, In order to save space, M11PRO only has one micro SD card slot but the built-in storage will increase to 64g.
4.5. Due to the supplier and design reasons, the M11PRO wouldn’t come with protective clear case and we are not planning to make them.

5. How to choose between M11 and M11PRO?
M11/M11PRO are all FiiO’s products and good products in our eyes. Therefore, it’s hard for us to recommend which one for you. But one simple truth, newer and more expensive products normally would be better if you don’t care about the cost and waiting time.

Love it great info buddy.

Now to get saving for M15pro :)

But most important, will the M15 support native DSD256? There's other 4 guys besides me that want this feature included!!!!!

Fiio said its fixed and coming to the M11 in a firmware update and I would think that FiiO would make the M15/pro handle the same formats if not higher ones aswell :)

Hmmm, I thin FiiO is underestimating user's preferences on the SD card stuff. a 32->64g internal slot upgrade doesn't make up for the loss of a whole sd card slot for people who rely on mult-hundred-gb sd cards.

Also, I like my M11 protective case, so that's a pity, but if you're gonna drop $750 I suppose another 20 bucks on some aftermarket protector is par for the course.

I hope that by then tuff-luv are making FiiO MXX cases :)
