Hi, im an iphone 14 pro max user, and thinking of getting this KA17 to pair with simgot ea1000 and iphone pro max.

will the KA17 work with the fiio typeC-lightning cable ? so i can directly connect the KA17 to iphone lightning port.

or the KA17 wont have power ?

1. For Iphone models below 14, its power supply can only meet the certain power output in non-desktop mode output.
2. With Apple devices, you would need to use an external power supply when using the desktop mode.

No shelf filters and it makes the EQ basically worthless for my purposes. I know @FiiO has already heard this, but please add high and low shelf filters to the KA17 and it'll be the best value/high power dongle DAC on the market!

Edit: I believe you do get 10 filters, though.

The engineer has tested about that. When EQ is enabled during Apple music playback, the volume will decrease. You could adjust the volume in iPhone to higher level for help.

When I switch the EQ on, playback stops. Once I resume playback even at volume 60 there is no audio. I even tried desktop mode. Only setting EQ off will allow audio. Should I send my unit in for repair?

This is normal because the KA17 disconnects and changes the mode. Try to disconnect the KA17 and connect again after you turned on/off the EQ.

@FiiO having issues with this new firmware eq setup, the eq when cycled through the OFF setting stops the output from the earphones connected to the KA17 and continues on the source speakers which can be embarrassing to say the least when In public. I did the update and took the device on the train ride to work and didn't find out this issue until it was too late. I switched to the off setting from the KA17 and the music I had playing started playing out loud from my phone in a crowded train that was when everyone was dead silent . Please fix ASAP this is not what anyone wants.

This shouldn't be a quirk that exists to begin with having similar issues myself with the eq. why would anyone want output to stop when changing eq settings nobody would want to deal with the hassle of using EQ settings if it ment they have to stop using the device and re connect it. Don't give fiio an out, they need to fix this stuff if the want customers to choose their products over others in the market and retain existing customers. Not every KA17 user will be active on this forum so for every person speaking up about issues there are some who are facing the same issue and not saying anything. We have to hold @FiiO accountable for putting out sloppy firmware updates that fix one thing and break another. The previous firmware didn't have these issues but other issues instead.

OK I understand now. Enabling and disabling the EQ is like swapping devices. The phone looks at it like a different device when EQ is enabled and the volume on the phone was different/low as @FiiO was trying to explain to me.

I increased the volume and it's fine now. It is odd, but I think as a workaround you could instead use bypass on the EQ, rather than disabling it. Then you wouldn't have two different volume settings to deal with. (one for EQ enabled, one for EQ disabled)

If you just want to use EQ *on* Windows with the FiiO you can just use Equalizer APO with Peace UI. The EQ will only apply when on Windows though.

I have them too and yes you have more then enough power. Even on low gain with desktop mode off.

Could this power my Hifiman Sundaras? it powers the he400se just fine. If the power requirements are similar then yes should be fine. BUT I don't recommend it for planar personally. 15 mins on desktop mode high gain and high volume. The KA17 hits over temp warning and stops working temporarily. So I don't think it's an Ideal and kinda stupid that it's not usable* I do use them on higher volume but your milage may vary.
