Hi @FiiO, is it possible to use BTR5 as a USB DAC in a way that bypasses the battery? In order to prevent battery degradation when using it mainly as a PC USB DAC I would prefer it to not use the battery at all, and instead pull the juices straight from the input like a DAC without battery.
Is that possible?
Wow, so will the power by default literally bypass the battery as long as the voltage is detected to be >4.6V, to double check? Or do I have to set something.
Got the btr5 last week.Done some small testing with my fiio fh7,beyerdynamic amiron home and dt1770 pro. With my samsung phone it works fine. With my sony 4k bluray player, its not that easy.It connects, but no sound.Have to turn it off and re-connect a couple of times before it works properbly. It drives my beyers just fine.I cant see what im missing out in regards of power. Its plenty of volume. The sound is really good.
The BTR5 doesn't have line out port, so it would work as USB DAC+AMP when connecting to the computer. And you could use the 3.5 to RCA audio cable for connecting the BTR5 and the desktop AMP.
The output volume could be control in the computer or desktop AMP.
I received mine about a week ago. I'm enjoying it a lot.
I had been using the ES100 and am wondering whether there is a similar "ambient sound" setting (which basically mixes the level of outside, environmental sound through the microphone to the headphones)? There are some circumstances where I like to be more aware of what's going on in the environment while I'm listening to music, rather than being 100% isolated.
I think it's a nightmare using the BTR5 with several sources paired with it.
I have paired my iPhone, my Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 and an Avantree DG60 USB transmitter (which just connects to the latest connected device, no manual connect/disconnect).
The BTR5 have no option to choose which source it should connect to, or an option to disconnect, and even if it says it has AAC from the iPhone there's sometimes no sound. (because it's also connected to either the DG60 or the Shield?)
It's also wrongly connected to the DG60 with AptX LL, not HD while connected to either the iPhone or Shield as well. Have to manually disconnect on those devices to get AptX HD.
Had a Btr5 question.... hooking up a btr5 to a vintage stereo system (speakers amp and preamp)? Is there a way? Is it advisable? Also what “Select Bluetooth codec”?
I figured the 3.5mm port is 80mw@32omhs (which is better for a preamp than the 2.5mm port balanced 240mw@32ohms)
should I connect to aux or cd? Or something else. It is a nakamichi ca5 preamp

My mom and dad are in town caring for my cousin after a surgery. My dad loves to listen to my headphones when he is in town. Unfortunately he is not staying with me. My cousin doesnt have much as far as entertainment goes And they are staying for a few weeks. I just got a Hifiman HE1000SE which is fairly easy to drive. It comes with a 3.5mm cable but I was less then impressed with it on my LGV60. I forgot that I had the BTR5 Just sitting around. Tried it with the HE1000SE and it is actually pretty darn good! Not on the level of my home equipment which amp and DAC MSRP is around $9000. But it is very decent and Surprisingly, quite a bit better than the LGV60. So I am bringing over the HE1000SE and the BTR5 over to my parents! I have already given them a subscription to Tidal as a gift. So they will have some great tunes for the next couple weeks. Very pleased with this little guy And I will recommend it to anyone.

@FiiO on Android 11 (in my case One UI 3.1, Samsung Galaxy S21), the BTR5 is not recognizable as 24-bit supporting and LDAC capable. It is recognized only as supporting SBC @ 16-bit.
There were changes in this area of OS in Android 11 and it seems like you guys failed to comply. Please take a look at this, device is not up to spec with new phones.
Okay, well never mind you guys. Android 11 is bonkers. For anyone who may be going through my pains in the future or atm: now changing your codec in developer options is not sufficient.
You have to go into bluetooth settings -> connected btr5 device settings -> enable LDAC
