Dear friend,

You are using the optical input of the R9 for connecting the IFI NEO Stream, right? The Optical IN of R9: Supports up to 96kHz/24bit

Best regards
It's a pity to hear that the R9 does not support 192KHz via optical input :frowning2:
Doesn't support it at the hardware or software level?

I found that I liked the sound through the optical signal. But it’s bad that R9 doesn’t support 192KHz

To the Fiio Rep: Thank you for responding to by message. What I want to do is use to connect the HDMI out port from the R9 to the HDMI in port on my receiver for the purposes of playing music from the R9, through the receiver, to the speakers attached to the receiver. Right now, I have connected the RCA out ports on the R9 to RCA in ports in my receiver, and I can hear my flac files, etc processed on the R9 through the speakers attached to my receiver. I have also connected the R9's HDMI out port to the receiver's HDMI in port, and I can see a representation of the R9's screen on my TV, but it does not appear that the HDMI port also transmits sound as I cannot hear music from R9 through my receiver and speakers with this set up. I have changed the R9's setting to "HDMI ARC", but still no sound. Also, I am using Monoprice 8K hi-capacity cables, so I am sure that the lack of sound is not caused by the cables. Mike Gutierrez

From my understanding, the HDMI ARC connection will send video signal from R9 to the TV/receiver and sound from TV/Receiver to the R9 but not sound from R9 out to TV/Receiver.

Dear friend,

Yes, when connecting the R9's HDMI out port to the HDMI in port of the TV, only the representation of the R9's screen will be transmitted and the sound will output from the R9 still. The engineer made the design like that considering the Audio decoding effect in R9 would be better than TV or receiver. But they have now learned about the requirement you mentioned, and they will assess whether the audio output could be added for HDMI out in later firmware update.

Best regards

Dear IFI sponsor,
can FiiO engineers make changes to the R9 so that the R9 can receive a 192KHz signal via optics?

I like the sound quality over optical cable and unfortunately I cannot listen to 192KHz tracks on the R9.

Dear friend,

I am afraid not. You may also find that our products which support optical in are support up to 96k as well. :frowning2:
You could try whether coaxial input/usb input could meet your need instead?

Best regards

Coaxial supports a frequency of 192KHz, there are no problems with it.
USB supports the maximum frequency, there are no problems with it at all.

It’s a pity that the R9 does not support a frequency of 192KHz via an optical connection. Of these three types of connection, I like the sound from the optical connection.

One odd behavior I have noticed is that Apple Music works much better using Wifi compared to Ethernet. When using Wifi, Hi-Res Lossless audio tracks play with the R9 system showing the high resolution bit rate. When connected using ethernet cable, all Apple Music tracks play at 48 kHz. Is this a problem with the Apple Music app? Strange that it would show preference to Wifi over Ethernet.

When I turn on the R9, it does not reconnect the saved Wi-Fi...
I always have to do it manually.
To say that I have it connected by Ethernet too...but. and interested in wifi for the Fiio link

Can you solve it to reconnect automatically?

Hi, this is caused by the Android version of Apple Music which is not adapted to Ethernet, and we have reported this issue to Apple Music.
