I bought the Fiio LC 2.5C and returned it. The MMCX connection was unstable and at one point thought I was going to break the FH7 trying to get it to fit. I'm waiting for Amazon to get the LC 2.5D back in stock. I Hope the plugs are better fit.

You can experiment by just trying out the tips that Fiio included. I find the vocal tips and spinfits the worst sounding ones in the bunch as they make the FH7 sound too bright. They also happen to have the smallest openings. The bass tips sound best out of the silicone tips and they have the widest opening. I'm sure there's more too it than he size of the opening, but these are my impressions that helped form my conclusion. I should also note that the Spiral dots also has an extremely shallow opening in addition to having a very wide opening which im sure plays a part in why they sound so good relative to other silicone tips.

I like the spinfits the best because of the open airy sound they provide. I also prefer the treble filters for the same reason. For me bright is a good thing.

Thanks buddy, gotta say as an alt to my LCD2 the FH7 do an realy solid job and considering I can use them in the hospital pure winner :)

Hahaha oh man, now I need a Monty python marathon...

Actually final e series with green filter is a great match, yet I prefer spiral dots over all my iems, though imr zeniths and kxxs sound súper with the final e’s

I just re ordered a set spiral dot ++ and symbios from Amazon japan, I already have an order of em coming in but they’ve been stuck in Mexican customs for 3 months now... it’s ridiculous

Actually I got desperate and order them again , I ordered first from eBay, the seller is in Japan, and even though I told him to ship through Dhl, he could only do ems (if anyone is readin this, seriously man, make an effort and ship through whatever the customer is asking, as a business owner: customer is always right) so he shipped and well 3 months later, the shipping is about to go through customs... hopefully I will get them by Christmas this year... though my amazon shipping is guaranteed for Friday delivery and cost me half of what I paid... cannot fight a logistics titan

Thanks buddy, much appreciated. And yes, I am, been living in Dubai for the last 16 years though
And there I thought I was the only Saffer on this forum :p (except I'm back living here, having spent ten years abroad). As for the FH7, it's currently my favourite IEM, certainly the best I've tried, easily the most comfortable. Compared them to Andromeda and it was a simple choice - but I get that's personal taste as well (if you thought the FH7 lacks sub-bass, what do you make of Andromeda!?). And FWIW, I think $450 is a bargain for an IEM that measures up against the kilobuck products. FiiO is seriously dropping the bar on high-end product pricing, which is great to see in an industry that seems to always want to go the other way.

You know what, I think maybe that 1-2K bump in the response might make them seem less bassy than what I would like, but I still reckon just a bit more oomph would've made them just that bit more enjoyable. I don't generally use a bass boost, but I did find it quite useful for the FH7...but yeah, tastes differ. Out of interest, where in SA are FiiO products sold and what are the prices like? I did a quick little conversion and added VAT....could the FH7 really be sold for R8k? :astonished:
EDIT: I suppose it works out to just about R8K over here as well. Lol and my old man's first brand new car (Ford Escort Sport) set him back just 5K...ouch

Yep, R8k or thereabouts (actually closer to R9k), usually more due to taxes and such. Only one 'agent' who doesn't keep stock but will order them in: https://www.cplanaudio.co.za/products/fiio-fh7 (I bought them direct from FiiO, so didn't pay anywhere near that amount). Considering what high-end IEMs from Campfire and Empire Ears and Noble and Meze cost nowadays, $450 is pocket change for a premium IEM, which is very much what the FH7 is.

Oddly I hear the bass as still big and super detailed compared to the FH5 (which I love but sold), but better balanced overall. I tried the red filter but currently sticking with the green because the highs are just 'right' with the green without affecting the bass, and I'm treble sensitive so they must be very smooth. I think tip selection makes a HUGE difference. With he Spiral Dots everything is smooth, balanced and punchy where it needs to be. With Spinfits, for example, the treble pierces my brain. So tips make a bigger difference than the filters, that's for sure.

With all due respect to your review (the written one) I strongly disagree.
Your personal taste of bass quantity isn't a point to judge the bass and frequency response of FH7.
I am also a reviewer and I have the FH7 for review purpose for a local HiFi magazine and I think that the bass is of excellent quantity and quality.
This is reference kind of bass with great equilibrium to the rest of the frequency response and nothing has to be added.
Not even a db.

All good. We've all got our preferences and even these tend to change at least somewhat over time for each of us.

Of course it is...well, at least until we figure out how to properly measure and interpret headphone/IEM graphs. The fact is, nobody seems to know what a 'flat-sounding' graph should look like. Some say it should measure flat, others say that it should follow the Harman curve (just to name 2 examples). Graphs are great for comparing the signatures of one headphone/IEM to another (ideally when they are measured on the same rig), but that's all we can really do for now, and so I find that the most effective way of doing it currently is by hearing. I'm all about objectivity through and through, and so I really am not comfortable with relying on my own perceptions, but any tool (measurement rig in this case) is limited in its usefulness by whether or not the operator knows how to use it and interpret the data.
So, judging it according to my own personal taste, I can agree, definitely is not the most accurate or reliable, but until we can get the graphs figured out, all we've really got are our ears.

It might not be bass heavy as the FH5 but its the devil is in detail and the FH7 low end has that for me.

Your personal taste surely will influence your reviews?

How else can you say you liked it or not
