Quick question, will the FH5's be. Released in Japan at the same time as the US?

Since no information about this has been given, the answer would be that it should be released everywhere at the same time.

Usually it is China which gets a different release date, and that is because FiiO is from China and they release to their inner market before releasing it to the rest of the world.

June 24th: Counting Down: 5 Days Left until FiiO FH5 Launch

Supercar-like Triple Sound Tubes for Each Frequency

The FiiO FH5 utilizes the design of one sound tube each for the low, the mid and the high frequencies, which is costly that only seen on high-end IEMs and with extremely high processing difficulties. By allocating perfect space for the 4 drivers and sound tube as well as making smooth transition between the 3 frequencies, so as to maximize the potential of the 4 units to work together perfectly in harmony.

Quick and dirty unboxing done with phone camera. The packaging is larger and more impressive than their previous FH1.

Very impressive presentation to bring your full attention to the new shell design. They're definitely very proud of it.

The full accessory set as laid out. New FiiO transparent hardbox, fabric zippered pouch, 4 sets of eartips (balanced, bassy, vocal-centric, and foam), cleaner tool, manual and warranty. Not to forget the IEM and cable themselves.

A bit of a disappointment that a balanced cable was not provided like FH1. The only cable is 3.5mm single-ended TRS, but looks well-made.

Three bores, protected by mesh.

Counting Down: 4 Days Left until FiiO FH5 Launch

#Immerse yourself in an endless stream of music#

Exotic-inspired S.TURBO technology
For a burst of pure, raw lows

The FH5’s low frequency sound tube adopts FiiO’s patented S.TURBO (short for Sound Turbo) acoustic structural design. With its specially designed turbine-inspired design that makes clever use the physics of sound waves, you get meaty, deep bass that is more than capable of letting you feel the music. S.TURBO also filters out unnecessary mid and high frequencies produced by the bass driver ensuring a more seamless transition between the lows and highs.

Ooooh, FiiO is surely increasing their game in audio now!

I'm actually fairly excited to see what they made

Come one, they also impress with their actual products every time :)
I wish i could say the same. For the last couple of iems i got from them.. QC issues with the right side both times. But yes they do have some decent products no doubt.

im a F9 user, had to EQ just a little the 7-8khz pike and also add a litle bass boost. now this FH5 having a bigger Driver and looking interesting in the Frec Response is a must to consider. Also looking forward for reviews =)

Woah

Last time I had an issue with a FiiO item was a few years ago, and that got sorted out in less than 24 hours bt their representative in Bucharest (it was a bought item under warranty)

I hope that at least you got that sorted out...

So, a genuine question. Why would I choose this over the Brainwavz b400?

both quad drivers but does the extra 60$ for the fh5 justify?

Sound quality might be important, so look after comparisons from someone who heard both FH5 and B400.

The number of drivers is absolutely irrelevant to the sonic quality, RE2000 and IE800 both have onyl one, well made, driver. The fact that some 30 USD Chi-Fi IEMs also have 4 drivers doesn't mean that they sound even close to a 1-driver good IEM.

Since I haven't heard B400 yet, I can't say how each sounds like

The B400 is an all BA set-up. The FH5 is a hybrid (DD handling the bass). You'd get the B400 if you like your bass very fast and value high isolation, but are willing to lose a bit of slam/impact. You'd get the FH5 if you prefer a DD type bass which typically has more slam, better texture, but is often slower. You'll also lose some isolation due to the DD needing a vent.

The sample FH5 I'm getting just hit Auckland - I should have it in 3 days. i'll measure and compare to B400 when it arrives.
