[FIIO DM13] HiFi Balanced Output Portable Stereo CD Player DM13 Is Officially Released!

Sorry, that I have to say that, but in my view that's a deal-breaker - which is quite a pity, as except for that design flaw the DM13 would appear to be a pretty interesting and nice product. But without a comparatively easily replaceable battery it's much less attractive, as it'll automatically turn into a throw-away product in a few years.

No, I am not agree with you.
Please Learn about our D.mode feature, which protects the battery and also works when the battery is not working! :beerchug:

Mind you, I'm not against LiIon battieries as such - but in this case we're not talking about yet another el-cheapo PCDP for 50 bucks or less, but a quite a good bit more costly and apparently also pretty nicely made model. And as the DM13 wouldn't exatly appear to be super slim and also considerung the specified runtime of only ca. 8 hours, it shouldn't have been all too difficult to design it with a compartment for one or two standard cells (like for example 16650).

Well, that's your opinion, but I don't share it. For one thing, because nobody knows, whether there'll be successors to the DM13 at all - and then in my view it also is about time, that the Chinese manufacturers of portable audio equipment would show some more respect for both the customers and the environment instead of flooding the market with one product after the other, that will turn into a throw-away item after only a few years.

First of all, 18650 batteries can't meet our requirements, our DM13 has a large output power for more headphones

Also, I think you should know about our products and after-sales, our users hardly worry about these

Most phones do not have user replacebale batteries
Most DAPs do not have user replaceable batteries
Why does one expect a portable CD player to have one ? By the way, the laser mechanism has a finite lifespan too.

Most phones do not have user replacebale batteries

That's unfortunately true - but it's a questionable trend, that only started around the mid 10s.

Most DAPs do not have user replaceable batteries

Also true, but also a questionable trend.

Why does one expect a portable CD player to have one ? By the way, the laser mechanism has a finite lifespan too.

Because PCDPs always used to sport user-replaceable batteries - so why would new ones not offer that feature anymore? There'd appear to be little reason for that, especially as the power consumption of digital electronics has shrinked pretty considerably. And yes, the laser pickup certainly doesn't have an infinite lifespan - but it'll typically degrade much slower than a LiIon battery. And unlike a LiIon battery a laser pickup typically also hardly degrades, when it's not in use - otherwise none of the classic PCDPs would work anymore by now.

Hi @MadrugadaEterna did you get any photos at Jamcam London? What is the casing material? It looks like an aluminium lid with a plastic lower body. Can the unit be controlled via Bluetooth, I.e. skip tracks.. main use for me would be in our Family car which does not have a CD player and therefore control via the car controls would be needed. I also presume the USB output can be used to feed a DAC such as my Sony NW-WM1AM2.

Also @FiiO Willson who in the UK will be selling this unit?

@FiiO Willson Any updates on the release of this one? I think this might be my most anticipated product for head-fi so far, very excited about it. Especially the version with a translucent cover :)

@FiiO Willson I thought about it some more, and I might actually buy this depending upon how much the ESP compresses the audio. What is the bit rate that CD audio is converted to when ESP is enabled? 256kbps? 192kbps?
CD audio converted to what if ESP is enabled?
If you mean the audio file in CD converted to digital audio file to USB storage , the format is WAV, and the rate is 1411kbps :L3000:

I mean how much does the ESP compress the audio when it's enabled and listening to CDDA? Does the ESP compress the bit rate to 320kbps, 256kbps, 192kbps or even lower? Just listening through the headphone jack.
