I'm actually very excited about this. I held off on buying the Shanling EC Mini because it doesn't support gapless playback, and didn't take the plunge on the Moondrop Discream because it did not have digital out. Also, thank god i didn't buy the discream, because I heard there were all kinds of issues and moondrop has since stopped production. The DM13 appears to address both issues.
About the gapless playback, Now there are some variables,

We are still trying to figure out how to solve it, at the moment he can't coexist with repeat playback, and we have fed back this problem to the chip makers, so hopefully they can work with us to solve this problem:beerchug:

I excidedly opened this article up, hoping for a review. Nope, 1 interesting pic of different colors, but the writer is guessing it's going to sound great. Anyway, if you want to see future plans for colored units you may want to open this link.... https://apple.news/AZQQFd8LoRSqxqartBAzpJA
Yes, there will be different colors, in the future.

But sky blue doesn't feel good, it's certain that there will be white, black, silver, red:beerchug:

Just One que,

I noticed earlier in The Verge and now in the LifeWire review that DM13 can do the below statement - I want to know if this true ?
Please respond @FiiO @FiiO Willson

You can also burn MP3s to a disk and it will read those, along with any FLAC, WAV, AAC, and WMA files you put on there. Pretty great for homemade mix "tapes."

How about the translucent one? That's the one I'm hoping for 🤞
Have fun at the show 👍

Yes, I'm also going to HK next Saturday, so you can talk to me directly if you have time. :beerchug:

Oh, I just got back from the show flew all the way from Malaysia. Might have spoken to u briefly when I made inquiry on the cd player. Applaud for releasing this device. I susepct it's probably not a huge market but of us Gen X folks, the attraction is definitely there.

Yes, it's not a big market, but it's an immediate need for a lot of people.
I think there is more to making these products than making money :beerchug:

No replaceable battery, it is build in Li battery:L3000:

Sorry, that I have to say that, but in my view that's a deal-breaker - which is quite a pity, as except for that design flaw the DM13 would appear to be a pretty interesting and nice product. But without a comparatively easily replaceable battery it's much less attractive, as it'll automatically turn into a throw-away product in a few years.

Personally, I like that it is a LI battery. Fits my lifestyle better. I'm not really worried about its battery life 3-5 years from now. Most of us in this hobby will have already moved on to the newest, shiniest, new gadgets (FIIO DM29) and will have all but forgotten this one.

Mind you, I'm not against LiIon battieries as such - but in this case we're not talking about yet another el-cheapo PCDP for 50 bucks or less, but a quite a good bit more costly and apparently also pretty nicely made model. And as the DM13 wouldn't exatly appear to be super slim and also considerung the specified runtime of only ca. 8 hours, it shouldn't have been all too difficult to design it with a compartment for one or two standard cells (like for example 16650).

Well, that's your opinion, but I don't share it. For one thing, because nobody knows, whether there'll be successors to the DM13 at all - and then in my view it also is about time, that the Chinese manufacturers of portable audio equipment would show some more respect for both the customers and the environment instead of flooding the market with one product after the other, that will turn into a throw-away item after only a few years.
