Will it be possible to use it also as CD ripper directly connected via USB-C with Fiio DAPs?
Yes,It has USB Audio Out
------
Edit:
Because of technical reasons, we canceled the USB Audio OUT, changed to USB REC OUT, through the USB you can stored the CD music in WAV format in the USB Storage

Speaking about “gapples” you should remember that this function does not remove “silence” if it is in the track itself. It is a function that prevents silence caused by loading the next track.
I assume that enabling ESP function can disable “gapples”, because the player needs to load some part of the track into memory.
Also today more photos of the player were published in the net. Finally we can see the connectors on the back side.

ESP is set up to prevent jitter during movement,
and in principle, it actually reads the contents of the song in advance for a period of time inside the memory, and then reads it later. :beerchug:

yea, i think fiio undershoot, their cassette player was bad, but if they made this really good and even added SACD support to it, it could have been a great tool.

But at its current shape. i think its underwhelming.
EDIT(As a reminder, the DM13 supports the CD-DA layer in SACD):

Hi,I don't think you're quite right.

The cassette player CP13 is a great product, he had his own mission and I think he successfully achieved his goal!

As for SACDs, I don't think that's what the DM13 is aiming for either; the DM13's mission is FIIO first and foremost to be a player that can play normal CDs! But the DM13 supports the CD-DA layer in dual-layer SACD

Having used the DM13 at this weekend's CanJam in London, I think you'll be presently surprised. Build quality and operation is to a high-standard. Optical pick-up is quick. The ESP works well (gave the player a vigorous extended shake during playback). Re. SACD, I'm don't think that's a deal-breaker, personally (and I've several hundred discs, having assisted with the launch of that format in the late 1990's) but each to their own, of course. Build/heft actually reminded me somewhat of the old high-end Sony FX1 DVD portable, so I'm certainly going to step in for one.

Thank you for your feedback!

There are still some software bugs and mold issues that need to be fixed before it can be officially launched!

It will take some time to optimize, I believe the official production version will be more beautiful! :beerchug:

Does sound count for anything? None of us have heard it. SACD is no guarantee that sound would be better than a well recorded, standard 44.1 CD.

Spot on. Red Book CD-DA - well recorded - can be truly excellent. The noise (shaping  ) around SACD/DSD (indeed, 'Hi-Res' in general) being 'better' simply due to the numbers being larger... <sigh>. (Before anyone jumps at me for 'slating' these formats - I'm not - I'm simply stating what is more important in my view; namely quality of production. If that happens to only available on SACD/Hi-Res for a particular recording, great - I'll buy it. But I'm not about 'the format for format's sake'...) I'm reminded of a guy who attended a Hi-Fi Show demo I was running once and demanded 'FLAC' files be played to him, as 'those sound better than CD'. 🤦‍♂️

For clarity's sake, will the DM13 play the RBCD (Red Book CD) layer of hybrid SACDs?

Regarding gapless, my expectation for a RBCD player is that it acts like a RBCD player. RBCDs aren't actually collections of tracks. Each CD is one long audio stream and the tracks are pointers into the audio stream, possibly with a "pre-gap" before the track starts. That means that if there is a pre-gap, it plays the pre-gap. If there's audio in the pre-gap, it plays that audio. If there's no pre-gap, there's no gap between tracks. Regardless, the audio playback should be continuous and the track indicator and navigation are just bookmarks into the continuous audio playback.

Edit:

Sorry, DM13 can not Play SACDs,But supports the CD-DA layer in a dual-layer SACD。

Thanks for you correction.

Wow, that's disappointing. You'd have to do something specific to break RBCD layer playback on hybrid discs. Can you explain why you did that?
