Why are you interested in FLAC files on a CD ? To me you can barely fit 2 or max. 3 albums on a single CD, so what is the advantage ??? I'm just curious...

It plays FLAC well, except it's not gapless. I have asked in a previous post for gapless FLAC playback, but they didn't respond. Would be great if it does gapless FLAC playback.

On 3rd of December I bought one unit from a reputable online dealer in Italy. Delivery was expected in 5 days. As of today not only I've never received the product but there is still no clue of when it will be shipped. I don't know if this is a manufacturer related issue but it seems to be a quite spread situation.

As you can see here, and on the websites of distributors, these are barely available out of China and chinese platforms, even Aliexpress has some restrictions on the shipping to EU (Fiio's marketplace).

I've contacted 3 webshops in France; all of them have almost no info from Fiio about availabilty, and the UK one (advancedmp3players) is taking pre-orders without any reliable news from Fiio as well.

Which version did you order ? Seems that the silver and black are more easy to get, but red and transparent are rare...
Seems that there is a lot of demand, and the production cannot follow...

I was interested in the transparent version, but this availabilty problem (both on Aliexpress and local distributors) and the remaining "playback bugs" put me off... I'll stick with my Technics SL-XP340 (1994) I bought used for 45€.

Back in september when I first discovered the DM13, I was really excited, even if usually I don't like to be the "guinea pig" with brand new products.
Then it didn't arrive as announced in September, but officialy released at the end of October. I thought it would be a few weeks before it hits EU shops but now we are 2.5 month from the release and even the silver/black version are hard to find outside of CN.
Now I lost interest, tired of waiting and also concerned about the fact of buying over and over electronics as we face more and more important problems with ressources, pollution, recycling... So I ask regularly myself "is it really worth ?" That's why I bought an old portable unit from the 90's, that is doing the job for me, at a fraction of the cost.

It was a "regular" black version with the BT feature. Actually the colour was not a major factor for me but the BT option was a key feature following the idea to implement a totally wireless configuration in combination with a wireless BT speaker.

Seems that there is a lot of demand, and the production cannot follow...

I'm not totally convinced about production shortage as the only reason, considering there is no clue even regarding the potential availability date for the new lots. The online dealer where I purchased my unit from has now tagged all the DM13 models they had for sale (silver and black, BT and non-BT, versions only) as no longer available with no mention of possible availability in the future.

I was interested in the transparent version, but this availabilty problem (both on Aliexpress and local distributors) and the remaining "playback bugs" put me off... I'll stick with my Technics SL-XP340 (1994) I bought used for 45€.

What a coincidence, I myself have a Technics SL-XP505 which the DM13 was intended to accompany with and eventually replace. 🙂

I got mine from their official AliExpress site and it arrived in the UK fairly soon after. If it's in stock there then get it that way, but only from the storefront linked from the FiiO website.

I'm a little concerned that they're focusing on the DM15 they've mentioned a couple of times and that will end up being the 'fix' for the DM13 issues.

What's this about dm15?
DM15 will be what DM13 should have been if they didn't rush the release with bugs that apparently can't be fixed with firmware updates.

The release was delayed once and FiiO didn't have time to fix the issues before the Black Friday/Holiday sales, so they released it anyway.

The shortage of units could be FiiO recalling all batches and taking DM13 off the market.

I think, There are no hardware issues so far, so it doesn't have the need for even a recall as you say.

Many of the software issues have been improved.
And we are continuing to update it.

In terms of software releases, we've internally tested up to version V24-2, but it's not quite the right time to release it yet as we need to test a few more things in detail.i think we will release it with in a week.

The last thing I would like to say about the CD-disk reading performance is that any company, even Sony at that time, needs continuous improvement.
We designed the DM13 build in with software-upgrades, something that many CD players don't have.
So, in the end, it's all about who's better and who's looking out for the user the most.

Been reading many of the posts here so wanted to add my 2 cents

Live in the US and Amazon US is selling the DM13 in both std and Blutooth versions as well as the clear top version
All show in stock and ships within a stated shipping date and give a specific delivery date (at the time I purchased it was 15 days)
On Amazon, It clearly shows shipping from FiiO in the description.
I purchased my DM13 this way, and it actually beat the estimated delivery time by a few days
I did notice upon receipt mine did have older FW and after reaching out to FiiO was sent the new FW and it upgraded without issues
Wanted to post this as I am NOT having any issues with skipping tracks or gapless playback at this time, nor did my device take an unusually long time to ship

Perhaps I am not the norm, but from what I could tell on Amazon buyers feedback posts it feels like my experience was the norm.

The DM13 works for me as advertised and as I was able to try at CanJam so count me as a happy user at this time.

Hope this helps with anyone at least in the US thinking of purchasing the DM13
